I'm thinking of changing our list server software from Majordomo to Mailman, the GNU Mailing List Manager. Anyone familiar with it? On another list that uses it? Any input or feedback you'd care to provide? A private response to the addr below is fine. Thanks. Legendre" Date: Fri, 07 Dec 2001 23:23:29 -0600 Subject: the_dojang: Weighty issues Hello Weight is most definately an issue. Two of my friends are also in TKD. Both are black belts. One is my height and about 30 lbs lighter than me, the other is about 6 inches shorter than me and weighs about 40 lbs less than me. Both of them are good at different things. The taller one jumps like he has springs in his feet. (If I could jump half as high as he does I think I would double my verticle.) The other is blinding fast. Now as far as I go. I'm not super fast, I cant jump high, but I carry my own. I have competed for grand champion at local tournaments in all three events (breaking, sparring, and forms) and have even won 2 of them. The whole point of that rambling mess is that weight is going to play a part in your martial arts. You just need to adapt what you do so that it fits your body type. Dont try and be anybody but yourself. Now figuring out what yourself is takes a lot of work. Dont give up on anything you try just because you cant do it the first couple of times you try it. It took me 6 months to learn jumping turning crescent and I was focusing on that kick.
