I too have an off topic but important message for the membership. A young student of ours started a program called "The Pocket Flag Project". Many American veterans can probably remember a similar project during the wars in Viet Nam, Korea and WWII. I invite all Americans, and anyone else interested, to visit www.maestastkd.com and click on the students page. This will take you to our page which has a bit of information on the Pocket Flag Project. At the bottom of the page is a link to their web site. We are looking for groups that are interested in folding flags to be sent to American service men and women. We are also looking to raise money to offset the cost of flag material, mailing and distribution. May the holidays find you happy and healthy and may the new year be prosperous for you. Dear Ray Terry & List Members Christmas is the perfect occasion for all the Brothers and Sisters of the Martial Arts to enjoy special times with family and friends. This eagerly anticipated celebration allows each and every one of us to come together in an atmosphere of joy and sharing. "For it is in our acts of sharing that the true meaning of Christmas can be found. That is why this time of rejoicing should serve as an invitation to open our hearts and share with those who are less fortunate. "On behalf of IJF and their representatives, I would like to wish one and all a very Merry Christmas. May this festive season fill every home around the globe with love and friendship. Your Brother in the Arts ! Could the problem actually be ME!? Am I being to critical of this one individual?...." As critical as I have been about how KMT leadership has been about discharging their duties, I must, in all fairness, state that I think you have gone to the other extreme. Your instructor is there to provide an opportunity for YOU to train and learn about a significant aspect of Korean culture and history. Apparently you and the other people in your classes are getting that opportunity. I don't see where there is room to bitch. If your instructor chooses to manage the progress of one student in a fashion different from another what business is it of yours? The instructor doesn't have a problem and apparently neither does the other individual. It doesn't seem to be impacting your treaining except as far as you are letting it. If its any help I have seen instructors do some pretty strange things with tests, ranks and training including practically giving rank to a kid with Downs' Syndrome and modifying a curriculum to allow a wheelchaired student opportunity to participate. As far as I could tell the benefits to the individuals far outweighed whatever violation to "tradition" occurred. Get your head back into your personal program and work to stop rating your efforts according to someone elses' measuring stick. All its doing is distracting you from doing good things for yourself.
