A single elimination match shall last a total of two minutes running time, unless a competitor earns enough points to be declared the winner before the two minutes are up. Running time means that the clock continues to run during point calls, etc. unless the referee calls for time out (due to injury, equipment, etc). 2. All techniques that score will be awarded one point. All penalty points will be one point. The competitor who earns three points up to five points will be declared the winner. (3-0, 4-1, 5-2 are all winning scores). A 4-4 tie will be a next point wins situation. 3. Scoring Points are awarded by a majority of judges. 4. Non-Target Areas: Head, neck, fingers and groin (all other body shots are scoring). 5. Contact: The strike must be sufficient to cause the weapon to flex, however, excessive contact may be grounds for disqualification. 6. No body to body contact is allowed. 7. Two penalties (ex. leaving the ring, excessive contact, etc.) will result in a point for the other competitor. 8. Weaponry: We will provide ALL competition weapons to insure safety standards. We use Action Flex (tm) weaponry which we have found to be the safest weaponry available, not only in construction, but also in impact distribution. We welcome anyone to stop by our facility beforehand to test the weaponry themselves. 9. Excessive contact, though largely a judgment call, will not be tolerated and may result in a disqualification. 10. Unsportsman-like conduct will result in immediate disqualification and/or expulsion from the tournament. So it is usually translated as throwing technique. Knife Throwing Technique is Too-Kum-Sool. Rock Throwing Tehcnique is Too-Suk-Sool. There is no exact equivalent of orange, but there is ju-hwang and ju-hong. Ju means red. Hwang means yellow (BTW: any Korean with the last name Hwang or Whang, their last name means "Yellow." That includes Hwang Kee. Of course, yellow is not associated with fear in the Orient.) Ju-Hwang means "red-yellow,"so that's the closest equivalent to orange. Ju-Hong means "red-red." The dictionary says "bright orange," but Ju-Hong is the word used to translate "scarlet" for the title of the novel, "The Scarlet Letter." Actually, if you say orange, most Koreans know what that color is since Koreans now have orange juice. Happy New Year! I have a friend who just completed the special forces training in Fort Bragg and they taught him the LINE system. He showed me some of the techniques and they seemed similar to hapkido's standing arm bars. I know many systems have these standing arm bars but it made me curious. Question #2 I partially tore my AC joint does anyone have any shoulder rehab exercises. (sidelight) Any advice about training during the the recovery I have trying kicking and that seems not bother it too much but not being able to throw or fall is killing me. The doc says 6 to 8 weeks before recovery. I'm two weeks in now.
