For some of you, old news. For others a heads up: If you do any dealings with a J. Castro (aka Ms. J) be warned. She says very racist things, makes things up and changes things around, and is so out there you would not believe. Especially everyone who practices Korean arts. You should hear the things she says about Korea, Koreans, and Hapkido. Be warned! And it is not being taught to Marines any longer so I've been told. Paladin Press sells a book based on the LINE system, and also a companion video set based on LINE. I believe the instructor in the video is the Marine who developed the system. When I get home, I'll take a look at them and let you know more. My main advice to you is: let it heal! You definitely want to move it through as full a range of motion as you can; gently stretch the muscles, etc and don't forget to ice it down after you've done that!! Also, don't shy away from anti-inflammatories (asprin, advil, or whatever your doctor prescribes). Beyond that, acknowledge your injury and don't push returning to throws or punching until you're well on your way to recovery. In my case, I got back to 80% or so within 2 months, 90% after a year and its only been about 5 months that I've been pain free (just nagging achiness towards the end). My brother's a physical therapist and says the 18 month time frame from injury to being pain free is about typical. I returned to full training intensity (taking falls, letting tori put the shoulder in a lock, etc) about 6 months after my injury (and it was probably a little too soon). The shoulder's a complex & inherently unstable joint..be smart. - -John Wallace 1st gup, TKD (7th kyu Danzan-ryu jujutsu) Fremont, CA - --------------------------------------- Question #2 I partially tore my AC joint does anyone have any shoulder rehab exercises. (sidelight) Any advice about training during the the recovery I have trying kicking and that seems not bother it too much but not being able to throw or fall is killing me. The doc says 6 to 8 weeks before recovery. I'm two weeks in now.
