It doesn't bother me too much unless I do heavy bench presses,, whenever I go over 315 on the bench it will start to hurt for days,, when I do pushups and light workouts it doesn't hurt but makes a melodic clicking sound,, oh well,, the price of doing Hapkido,, no pain no gain,, I know that is politically incorrect to say that these days but that is really the truth,, fact is,, what we do is Dangerous! I agree with everything stated on here earlier about treatment and further prevention,, give it time to heal but keep moving it some,,, keep it in a sling,, although I couldn't seem to do that myself.. good luck. (sidelight) Any advice about training during the the recovery I > have trying kicking and that seems not bother it too much but not being able > to throw or fall is killing me. The doc says 6 to 8 weeks before recovery. > I'm two weeks in now. I did 80% of my right side AC a couple opf years ago in a skiing stack. Had physio every day for a week with heat packs and electro stims, and was doing some gentle rotating exercises and stretches using door frames. Got in a few days skiing without stocks before coming home. For the next month did curls, starting with 1kg and increasing to 2.5kg, although the number of reps seemed more important. After 4 weeks started regular (2x pw) swimming again, slow at first but got quicker and longer pretty fast - IMO this was the best thing, really gets the rotation and stretching happening. I was also doing a yoga thing my instructor's wife showed me where you put your hands flat on the floor against the wall and walk forward as far as possible with your legs straight. After two months careful locks were OK but I was cautious about throws and falls for a long time The scar tissue in the joint has to be softened and molded extensively after a tear,a partial tear wouldn't be so bad I guess. Mine crackled and clunked for over a year in training, like when doing punches, and occasionally still does. Now it seems fine, with a bit less movement than the other side. Good luck. ------------------------------ From: "Meghan Gardner" Date: Sun, 6 Jan 2002 08:47:36 -0500 Subject: the_dojang: Foam Weapon Sparring Tournament Just a reminder... the registration for this event in Burlington, MA needs to be postmarked by tomorrow.
