Let me clarify a few things for you first I never brought this to this forum it was brought here by someone else. And to make a few things straight or which tend to be miss communications I received my first dan, second, third ,fourth and my certificate of appointment all from the KHA before there was a KHF and apparently before Richard Hackworth was in Hapkido. When the KHA dispaned it became Samaul Hapkido and i had to rectify with this group every one of these rank test were held in Korea under Yu He Chun-hee head of Hapkido Chundo kwan my Master and Master Won,Kil Soo I was with them for 10 years before Joining the WHF which i left for many reasons as had many. I then contacted the KHA assuming my masters were still members and much to my surprise the were now KHF this was two years ago that i found this out.. I then decided i would realign with the Kwan I had been a member of from the beginning and which I am still a member and the only Kwan In Korea I was a member of. This is why awhile ago I gave up the Mooyekwan title under the KHA .I am proud to once again be reunited with my roots. What I do not understand nor do my Masters whom had kept an Eye on me the whole time have never thought that I have ever brought a bad name to them or Hapkido I would give it up first. As far as getting on the mat with people this is what I do. As you have seen most on the list have seen me practice or been on the mat with me not in front of a camera, but the guy whom at a seminar is explaining a technique to a white belt and seeing the excitement in their eyes and remembering what is like to be on the other side of the mat. It seems to many people want to "talk the talk" I rather "walk the walk" this will be last post this way my private life is mine and I will leave keyboard combat to those who need it. Hal ------------------------------ From: todd miller Date: Wed, 16 Jan 2002 08:21:47 -0500 Subject: the_dojang: Hapkido This whole thing makes me glad that I am not a member of the KHF. There are some who think more highly of themselves and their position in Hapkido and have taken liberties that no person or group has the right to do morally. Some things should not be talked about but there are times when even the most silly and stupid deeds need to be exposed along with the people who commit them. Just my 2 cents, well maybe 3. I am not defending what was said. I am criticisng the fact that, in a Hapkido Community that already has problems, that this was sent out, and then published here. As far as what has been published, I do not recall seeing anything by Dr. Hackworth being critical of Hal Whalen except in his own defense, AFTER a seering editorial basically indicating that the KHF sells Hapkido. I suspect that this is why the KHF has not yet issued, to the best of my knowledge, Mr. Whalen's rank. As far as both sides being at fault? Perhaps, however, since I had a talk with someone at the KHF HQ who informed me that Mr. Whalen said some interesting things about me while he was there, and incidentally he has never met me, nor seen me on the mat, I have shall we say a very poor taste in my mouth for him. I have never done or said anything to him. So, in my opinion, wrong is Mr. Whalen. A > personal arguement between two people is not really important enough to bring > to a public forum, in fact, it not only has nothing to do with the forum, it > is tasteless. I would agree with your assessment if the disagreement were purely a personal one. However, one of the parties involved has apparently threatened to bring action to take away the rank and standing of the other, as well as that of ALL OF HIS STUDENTS. If this is the case, then I think it's safe to say this is no longer simply a personal disagreement. If it's a fact that we members of the greater Hapkido community we are all one argument away from having our rank revoked, then perhaps we all need to be informed of this. Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion. But it seems clear that there is more to this than you understand or are willing to admit. Take care.
