Same goes for teacher. For example, if you studied under Doju Ji Han-jae first, then further your study under under GM Choi Yong-sool. Doju Ji will alway be regarded as your teacher until he decide to dis-own you. The same logic applies for traditional Japanese and Chinese arts. Regards, S. H.
