Funny you should mention the latest issue of TKD TIMES. I need a little help from anyone on the list about a couple of things that turned up in that issue. Pg. 26 has a blurb about a "new US director" for the National Hapkido Assn as announced by GM Yong Ki Song of Suwon, Korea. Right off the bat let me say that I am the first to admit that I STILL can't keep these assns and federations and GM and directors straight, but wasn't this the organization that Richard is supposed to be the head of here in the States? Or is that another NHA? Does anyone know anything concerning GM Gary Pointer? Is there a separate NHA for the KHA and another NHA for the KHF? Does anyone know GM Yong Ki Song of Suwon, Korea and how he fits into the Hapkido picture? Pg 22 has an announcement that John Beluschak of Clairton, Pa has recently received a promotion to 6th Dan in Judo. Isn't this the same person that GM Ji promoted to 5th Dan in Hapkido last year? He is pictured in a uniform which includes the image of the Sin Moo Hapkido patch on his uniform. Am I given to believe that this individual maintains mastery and standing in both Judo and Hapkido? Has anyone heard of the Korean Yudo-Hapkido Association? Pg. 24 identifies a Master Rim, Jong-bae as chief instructor for Hapkidos' founder Choi, Yong Sul for 10 years. Other than Marc Tedeschi and the Rim website does anyone authenticate this standing with something other than the fact that folks sat down over coffee once? Pg 44 has more stuff from Scott Shaw, PhD. Should I be signing my posts on the DD with my Masters' degree? Lastly, there was an article in a recent magazine concerning a master who is accomplished in the art of Kuk Sool Hapkido. I don't honestly remember if this was hyphenated so as to mean an amalgam of Kuk Sool Won AND Hapkido or if this was to identify Kuk Sool as a style of Hapkido art (which would probably get MY vote). I can imagine that Rudy could probably clarify this but I wanted to be sure that others who might want to express their thoughts wouldn't feel excluded from the discussion. Last I heard, M Suh, In Hyuk was head of World Kuksoolwon Assn and GM Seo, In Suh was head of the World Kido Assn. How does Kuk Sool-Hapkido (sic) play into this? Anyone? Does anyone know the policy for TKD TIMES for proof reading its material before publication or reviewing the vitae of its contributors? Does anyone know why I would have been recommended to Glenns' Net (TKD.Net) as one who would be intrested in participating? Just kidding. Well Sun Mu Kwan is a branch kwan of the International HKD Federation. We have around twenty or so gyms in Korea and one here in Los Angeles of which I am a part. The website for Korea is which is run by Master Yoon Il-Bong of Busan. Also, we have a sister branch located in the Netherlands and their website is and Klaas Barends operates that website. He is also a member on this list. Hope that answers your questions. ===== International HKD Federation-Sun Mu Kwan USA www.ushankido.org Send FREE Valentine eCards with Yahoo!
