Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Dear Mr. Sims, >However, if such a system of guep ranks, Dan ranks, certificates and >organizational positions is to be a part of the daily life of the KMA then >I think we need whatever safe-guards as can be used to make sure that the system is not abused. Whose responsibility is this? Well, I lay it at the door of the people who state that they are part of the system.< I disagree WE need safeguards. One persons "abuse" is another persons "reward". The responsibility already rests on the shoulders of those wearing the mantle, well or ill. Organizations, composed of humans, are frought with differing opinion. Most MA organizations are composed of humans from different cultures, languages, religions! How much more suseptible they are, and how much more tolerant we need to be. You just don't like some of the outcome! >But if I state to the MA community that I teach --- say--- Sin Moo Hapkido, >or HwaRangDo-- or if I report that I am organizationally connected to the >KHF or USHF I think that I had better be able to document it from my end--- >and get validation from the organization and be able to do this all in a >very public way so that there is no doubt in anyone's' mind.< I agree that the individual should be able to exhibit documents. However, my experience tells me that the doubts that exist in the minds of most are unallayable, even with "proper" documentation. Furthermore I suspect that few membership enquiries are made with the good of the member, or the organization in mind! Therefore free access to organizational information should NOT be provided to casual inquiries about membership, status, rank, test scores, fees, reprimands, punishments, etc.! The document, produced by a pro-North Korea group in Japan, establishes the number of Koreans conscripted by the Japanese imperial army and police, said Kim Eun-shik, executive secretary of the Korean Council for the Redress and Reparation for the Victims of World War II Atrocities. He said the Tokyo-based group has promised to provide a more detailed document on the Korean victims, including their names and personal records, if its members are allowed to visit South Korea. The South Korean government has banned pro-North Korea figures in Japan from entering the nation. The council urged the government to approve their entry so it can secure the document, which it said has great historical value. The list includes the names of thousands of Koreans who were killed in labor camps and on battlefields in Japan-held Asian nations before and during World War II. Also named are about 2,800 Korean workers who were killed in the U.S. atomic bombings of two Japanese cities in August 1945, and 410 Koreans slain in a mysterious ship explosion in waters between Korea and Japan shortly after Japan's surrender in World War II. The list is based on the pro-Pyongyang group's research of materials they collected in Japan, North Korea, the United States and the United Nations for more than 30 years, Kim said. He said the list of names could be used as evidence in lawsuits that Korean victims and their relatives filed against the Japanese government for compensation over their forced service in labor camps, the army and brothels. jjhwang@koreaherald.co.kr By Hwang Jang-jin Staff reporter 2002.03.02 --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang It's a great day for Taekwondo!
