Now all we have to do is teach you all the words to "Michael rowed the boat ashore," "If I had a Hammer" or "Gum By Yah." Have any incense or Love beads? Yer gonna need those later on. Falling? What's that? Ok, I know what it is, but they don't teach it here (in this TKD school). All they do here is kicking and punching techniques (geared toward tournies), and forms. In my TSD school, I learned the basics on falling at white belt (rolls, ect), the adults learned self defence at white belt, and had to learn all three kicho forms (the adults skipped over yellow belt). We started to learn take-downs at orange belt. We couldn't break or do weapons till green belt, but that was understandable. Cheree wrote: <<<>>> My very first school was like that, too. Bad ...... <<<>>> It also took me a long while to find the TSD dojang. I just walked in there and knew I was "home". I did find two schools, but one is 2 hours away. It's a Chun Kuk Do school (Chuck Norris style). It's based on TSD. And then there was a Chindokwan (sp?), definitely based in TSD. From what I can tell, it's almost the same except the term is in Japanese instead of Korean. TKD is REALLY popular here (Rochester area of NY). It's hard to find a school that DOESN'T teach it. I think there might be one kung fu school, and one or two jujitsu schools, but they are like an hour or so away. I wouldn't mind TKD so much if they all weren't geared toward sport around here. _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com --__--__-- Message: 6 From: "Laurie S." They might get the guy to duck, but I rather have him out of the fight all together. But then, as a sniper, we believe in one shot - one kill. Don't care for that automatic fire where most of the ammo you had to carry around doesn't hit anything. :-) Alain --__--__-- Message: 8 From: "Steve Kincade" To: Date: Mon, 11 Mar 2002 12:21:30 -0600 Subject: [The_Dojang] Han Mu Do Seminar Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Dr. He-young Kimm is hosting his Spring Han Mu Do seminar at his Baton Rouge, LA headquarters' school on April 20 and 21, 2002. Dr. Kimm's special guest at this seminar will be Grandmaster K.S. Hwang, 9th Dan, President and Founder of the KoreAmerica Taekwon-Do Union. Grandmaster Hwang is the Chairman of the Promotional Committee of the ITF. Courses of instruction at this seminar will include Han Mu Do Ki Breathing, Han Tai Chi, Ho Shin Sul, and Weapons. The Taekwon-Do section will include Tul (form), Philosophy of Taekwon-Do, and Step Movements. All who are interested in traditional Korean Martial Arts are invited.
