The introduction says that his poem " I would never serve a second master though I am crucified a thousand times" is known to every Korean. A student asked if I had a copy the poem. I checked with a couple of Korean friends and searched the internet with no luck. Can anyone send me this poem or tell me where it is posted? Thank You Mike Yahoo! But see if you can locate Peter H. Lee's Poems from Korea. It is now out of print, but it may be in there. Others? The two ITFs are having big events on the same date, somewhat near to each other. BTW, good stretch on Major General Choi in the poster for his ITF Cup. I hope I can kick that high when I'm his age. Yeck, I just hope I get to be his age... :) Ray Terry raymail@hpwsrt.cup.hp.com --__--__-- Message: 5 From: Ray Terry To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Date: Sun, 17 Mar 2002 17:54:12 PST Subject: [The_Dojang] Bulgogi Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Koizumi to Taste Korean Culture During Visit March 17, 2002 Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi plans to learn how to play a Korean traditional musical instrument and throw a "bulgogi" (Korean traditional beef cuisine) party during his March 21-23 visit to South Korea, officials said Sunday (March 17). In an apparent move to make his second visit to Seoul less political, Koizumi is scheduled to go to the National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts in Seocho-dong, southern Seoul, immediately after his arrival, and watch a performance before trying his hand at one of the musical instruments, the officials said. The Japanese premier faced strong anti-Japanese protests and was denied a visit to the National Assembly during his first visit here last year that took place following his controversial visit to the Yasukuni Shrine and introduction of new history textbooks that allegedly whitewash Japan's wartime misdeeds. "It has not been decided which instrument he will learn to play," an official of the musical institute said. Koizumi also plans to hold a party, eating "bulgogi" and "galbi" at a restaurant in the upscale Gangnam area with representatives of Japanese people living in Korea. No official functions are scheduled for the first day of his visit. He will host a reception for dignitaries from Korea's sports, arts and culture communities and visit the World Cup stadium in Seoul, in celebration of the Korea-Japan World Cup finals slated for June and in recognition of the Korea-Japan national exchange year this year. Before returning home, he will visit the Millennium City of Gyeongju and make a stopover in the port city of Busan. "Koizumi will not make an official apology on his country's wartime atrocities this time, his schedule being free from any visit to controversial historical sites," a Seoul official said. "His upcoming visit is intended to put behind the two countries' unhappy past and strive to turn a new page on bilateral relationship." --__--__-- Message: 6 Date: Sun, 17 Mar 2002 20:38:17 -0700 From: Timothy Seitz To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] www.k-towncowboys.com Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net You can find the official website for K-Town Cowboys at (not surprisingly): www.k-towncowboys.com The site hasn't been updated since summer time, and there's no word yet on release date. You can download some very cool trailers, though. The digital age is turning out to be very fruitful for independent filmmakers and the martial arts genre can only benefit from such endeavers. I hope it's a big hit for them.
