Get one of the BIG excercise balls - they're usually green or red. Looking at a right front roll: At first the student places right knee next to the ball (ball is on the ground) reaches over the ball with right hand, places right cheek on ball then thrusts forward executing the roll around the ball. After some proficency, the ball can be used without the reach over and finally gripped under the right arm and standing up. Then it's time to loose the ball. In the case of the ITF we have the great good fortune to be blessed with Gen. Choi Hong Hi as the Founder of TKD and the President of our federation. A man who is truly great, has worked selflessly for the ideals of Taekwon-Do and latterly the ITF. Our ITF has seen many traumas which threatened our existence but we have, until today, relied upon the existence of "natural justice" to carry us through all these traumatic experiences. Faith is something which is necessary to carry us through the difficulties of life and we should not falter because of the weaknesses of people who try to drag us down. Our goal is to see TKD take its rightful place in the world. The image must be raised to convince the general public that we, and martial arts in general, are capable of having their trust to impart to them and their children the morals and self-confidence needed to progress in the modern world. Our federation has seen people in the past come under various influences and try to damage us. To combat this we have put in place a managing body of various people who can fight against such a threat and ensure our survival no matter what happens in the future. We are determined to secure our rightful place in the world as the true leaders who should be allowed to shape the future of TKD. We are serious in our desire to cooperate with the WTF for the future of all. However, this does not mean that we will let ourselves be overtaken by them. Recently, a situation arose where a small group of misguided people thought that they could take over the ITF for their own benefit. Since we realised what was happening and corrected the balance there have been detrimental comments on a website but these critics, who do not know what the real problem is, have only damaged the image of TKD and the ITF. Notwithstanding these outbursts, the relief felt in the ITF that the oppression and pressure is gone is wonderful. The lesson to be learned is that we should not give our allegiance when our hearts say otherwise. It is common practice for a large organisation to rid itself of "dead wood" so that it may progress in the future. We follow our President in his belief that the ITF should be built upon the morals of not having prejudice against religion, ideology, national boundaries or race. Further that "a man who is blinded by greed is not only given to corruption, intrigue and exploitation of others, but worst of all, he casts himself in the position of "friend fighting against friend, son fighting against father". A few people have seen fit to form a new group but they have chosen to try to disrupt the ITF by calling themselves the "new ITF". The ITF has a chance to go forward without the restrictions placed upon it by people trying to monopolise it for their own use. This new group which we shall have to call the "phoney ITF" have begun their existence with prejudice. When people revert to telling lies and criticising without reason then we may guess at their future prospects and behaviour. The phoney ITF are not long in existence when someone makes an accusation that he has had his signature forged on a paper listing him as a member and someone else claims that his name is being used as belonging to the group when that is not the case. When you talk about having a huge seminar it is relevant to the circumstances. If you charge $3.00 for the seminar then you could expect hundreds of people to turn up as opposed to having a real seminar where the charge is $100.00 or $200.00 dollars. We assure the members that the meeting held in Vienna was perfectly legal and that the results are being registered. We further assure you that the ITF gets no funding from DPR Korea. Since the phoney ITF are using our name we find it necessary to expel those few members who have joined that group so that they may not clam to be still a member of the ITF and we ask you to bear with us at this time. Anyone who has taken the wrong path will always be welcome to return to the fold. Anyone can make a mistake. In the meantime we note that the phoney ITF are using the names of our members to make it seem that they have more than a few members and to confuse the ITF members. We believe that this is fraudulent use of your names and we ask you to send an e-mail to the relevant addresses asking for your name to be removed from the website list. They are also claiming that the junior world championship will be held in Argentina but you should not pay any attention to that as our Junior World Championship will be held in Puerto Rico. Naturally, we do not expect our members to take part in their events. The ITF has a laid down path for making decisions and even although the name of Tom MacCallum appears on the correspondence it is only because my job is to write the letters. The letters are written on behalf of the ITF and never in the past has anything been done by me without the proper consultation and approval. Criticism that the ITF is dictatorial is unfounded and is certainly levelled by people who have not the slightest understanding of what happens officially. I am constantly surprised by the wild statements and guesses made by people which are put forward as being the facts. The ITF have a Consultative Council whose advice is sought for all major decisions. The ITF have a Legal Council, albeit fairly recent, who will be consulted as necessary. All of the National Associations were always invited to be present at the meetings but if they chose not to attend then that was their free choice. Decisions are made in accordance with what is laid down in the constitution and we challenge anyone to disprove this. Statements have been made by some people about the legality of our actions but we notice that they have not done anything about it. The National Associations are sent copies of all meetings and informed of the reason for all decisions which affect them. Management is a skill which is exercised by the officers appointed to do so and if the officers are not skilful enough then they can be replaced. There is no possibility in a huge organisation like the ITF to please everyone but it is democratic to please the majority and not the few dissenters. We welcome action by anyone to challenge us in a court of law. We shall continue our policies as long as they are approved by the majority. Please feel free at any time to make suggestions about anything as we are ready and willing to discuss them for the benefit of all. Our promise is to be fair in carrying out our duties to all of you.
