We have had a remarkable jump in interest since. Our add is small in comparison and not well placed so it is a little surprising. What I put it down to is, when people hear about us by work of mouth the first thing they do is go to the Yellow Pages to find our add/number. So even though it is a small add it is there, and combined with other advertising (Radio, flyers, New paper articles etc) and word of mouth it seems to be effective. Michael et al, Ok, few more tips, if you are tracking marketing effectiveness, many would suggest you have minimum 5, more like 7-10 "campaigns" each month and track the cost and number of leads generated, which is how I know (see last post) it costs $17 for each student that calls me, and I can tell you which campaigns have been the most productive and the most efficient. My monthly list looks like (comes from tracking sheets from PPS): Local YP Ad (to be droped this year- services wrong demographic area) Alltel YP Ad USKMAF Website Martial Info.com Blackbelt Mag studio webpage Homeowners association newsletters (2) Test Nite (every two months, parents and friends invited) Flyers (cheap to make time consuming to post on mail boxes low response) Direct Mail (Once in Spring, Once in fall before back to school) Referal Program (Kick backs to students for referals) Holiday Parties (bring a friend) You are dead on, without a YP ad very few people will call, but even with a YP ad, many of the other cheaper campaigns will generate more leads. The YP is something everyone has in their home by the phone, when they're ready to call your dojang about lessons, would you rather assume they still have your flyer somewhere, or count on them looking you up in the YP next to their home phone? Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Character Industry Opens New Website April 4, 2002 Ministry of Culture and Tourism The Korea Cultural Contents Promotion Center (CCPC), an affiliate of the ministry of culture and tourism, last week launched a website to provide recent and comprehensive information on the nation's character industry, the ministry reported. The new website, which opened on March 26, features four windows: a Character Database, Flash Showings, Reference and a Web Magazine Chatting Room. The Character Database lists some 670 registered characters in the latest trends developed by Korean firms, and allows artists to register new characters. The Flash Showings runs moving-picture animation shows, while the Reference give visitors access to information on the industry. The CCPC has begun another project: the printing of a reference book. The book, dubbed "The Korea Character Yearbook, 2001," will list most of the 100 character firms in Korea and their principal characters. The contents promotion center plans to distribute 1,000 copies of the yearbook for free. --__--__-- Message: 10 From: "Wallace, John" To: "'the_dojang@martialartsresource.net'" Subject: RE: [The_Dojang] Ok, but what is a character???
