I want to thank everyone who submitted comments and suggestions. These were very influential in my decision. Now the hard part. WHEN do I do this? CDT Level I courses are offered in several places throughout the US but living in Southeast WV makes it a long journey to the places that they offer. I am still curious though for those of you that have taught Law Enforcement agencies such systems of self-defense, how much did you charge the individual police departments to train their officers? Feel free to answer by sending me an email off-line of DD if you wish. Also, could someone supply me with the Korean pronounciation of the words "Warrior" and "Report"? Thanks. I have seen Korean business cards that have the >company name in Hangul but often the person's name is in Japanese or Chinese >characters. Addresses are also not in hangul. Why is that so? I doubt you see Japanese characters. What you are probably seeing are the Chinese characters called Hanja in Korean and Kanji in Japanese. Both Korea and Japan used Chinese characters for their own language before they adopted their own alphabets. Educated people could read and write the Chinese characters much as educated Europeans could read and write Latin in Centuries gone by. The use of Chinese characters has gradually declined, but they are still widely used for proper nouns, such as family names, city/town, etc. Thus on a formal document or business card a persons name may appear in Hanja. The more status of the person the more likely this is to occur. Hope this answers your question. By the way, I know there are many people more knowledgeable than me about the Korean language and customs on this list. Corrections or clarifications anyone? Respectfully, Mark M. Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Hi y'all what's kickin'? I've got this little problem I'm wandering others encounter. It's about religion. Many people are apprehensive of the arts on the basis of it "seeming" harm intent. They say it isn't good for people who has the fear of the Lord in mind (particularly the cristians)..., why should one teach oneself to cause injury to others and lots of etc. Being a christian myself, I have a few pros to counter their cons like it being good for the body (what He gives you, you keep in best condition et al) but I wouldn't mind a few more tips from others who have sucessfully warded off these fears.
