Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Sorry that the lists have been down. On the last day of my trip to London I was taken into the emergency room, a few hours later I had surgery to repair a gastric ulcer that had perforated. I was released from the hospital last night (Friday) and am now back in the hotel in London from which this latest adventure began. Will rest up a few days and then return home. When boarding airplane, take many magazines and grab those little soaps in toilets. Several of those make a nice bar of soap when melted down. More to follow. McD (The Man from Glad) Yahoo! Even if she is functional while on her medication, there is a big issue of medication compliance and more problems in the future. Good luck! First of all obtain a restraining order against this person. Second, discuss this situation with a lawyer. Perhaps they may provide other options for you. Remember it is not your fault that this person has mental problems. Good luck. Felix Smitticck Yahoo! Once she claimed that she was dating one of the instructors (who is elderly and mildly retarded) and told the police they had no right to take her away from her "boyfriend." Another time she brought a baby carriage filled with 5, life-size baby-dolls dressed in real children's closed......" OK, so apparently your students' teeter-totter does not go up and down on both sides. So what part of "No" don't you understand? Either she is capable of conducting herself in a socially appropriate manner and making rationale decisions about setting goals and working towards them or she is not. Taking it a step farther, you are the person who is in charge of the school, yes? Either you are up to the task or you are not. If you are not able to make the necessary decisions about who is appropriate for MA training, to what extent some will benefit and who will not, you may have more problems than your student. FWIW. If so, other than it's esoteric value (and I don't mean that condescendingly at all), how would you rate it's practical value (i.e. vital points etc). I realize it's not a 'Korean' style etc, but would appreciate anyone's input... thanx, Bill --__--__-- Message: 8 Date: Mon, 29 Apr 2002 07:14:57 -0700 (PDT) From: Charles Richards To: Dojang Digest Subject: [The_Dojang] 13th Annual USHKDSMK Seminar Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Hello from North Georgia! It's Monday, and I'm still sore from Master Allison's 13th Annual Hapkido get together :-) Probably from all the kicking we did in the morning, or all the joint locks...Either way, Master Allison showed some nice joint locks and how to apply them as multuple techniques, from one lock to another. He covered some middle staff techniques as our weapon of the day, and included some Kum Sul (not Kumdo) as our "cool down" around 5PM. After issuing the certificate of completion we finished the 8 hour session around 6PM. OK, he did let us take a lunch break in the middle. An excellent combination of spirit/endurance testing, advanced techniques, and fun. Master Allison also had 7 of his 3rd Dans and no less than a dozen other blackbelts on hand to circulate and help with fine points, or pair up with you if you needed a partner. An excellent seminar I would recommend for anyone who enjoys well rounded martial arts training. See GM West's info to see if Master Allison will be at the August USKMAF seminar or see you next year in Georgia for the 14th Annual.
