Has anyone seen a better model for NGB longevity? What lessons can we learn from the transition? ...." Actually Charles I think you hit the nail on the head--- you AND the FIVE GOOD Emperors of the Roman Empire. Seems that many years ago the Romans figured that it was impossible to guarentee sound succession and competent rulers by relying simply on death and genetics to account for who followed daddy to the throne. The result was that each of what have come to be known as the Five Good Emperors (Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian, Antonius Pius and Marcus Aurelius) took their successor in tow before they died and secured their position as the identified and accepted successor before passing on. Corporations have identified lines of succession even if only provisional in emergencies. The US government has a line of succession to guarentee leadership in emergencies. To my way of thinking it does not seem out of the question that an organization of perhaps hundreds of thousands of members, worldwide would follow some similar approach. FWIW. Been keeping low. Slicky Boy stuff cool reading. If anyone is interested I have a great 33 page paper on the Korean Juicy Girls of Songtan. It is good reading for those young GI boys who arrive in Korea and are quickly enchanted with the very attractive ladies in the bars whose best lines are "Buy me drinkee, GI..." Who sez that ain't cultural exploitation of our young men protecting us, eh ? Anyway, back to readin. Job market is kind of tight. I know 2nd ID there. If so, stop by Hollywood Joe's shop. He is a great tailor. He used to make custom made suits for me for $80.00. I picked the cloth, re: silk, wool, you name it. Then I would meet him in Seoul at the Hamilton Hotel for pick up. Anyway, also say hello to Mi Sun Kim. Great lady over at the Buy Me Drink club. Man, let me tell you about her. And, still not going to, but I had a flashback to my instructor in Korea. This guy spoke fluent Korean and was an ex-Marine. He would go down to T Street in Pusan, and visit the bars. These bars, once the denizens of GIs, were now overrun with Russians. Primarily smelly fisherman type Russians. True, they smelled and I say that having also visited these bars. Sorry if your Russian. The new Miss Universe is Russian but I am sure she takes a bath more than once every two weeks ! Anyway, my instructor (who practiced under In Sun Seo) would go into the bars and start stuff just to see if his techniques would work. I thought nothing of it until she apparently slapped a Korean female in my apartment (I was in the bathroom gettin rid of some SoJu). So, he slaps a Korean National in my apartment on an Army base. So now those overzeoulous CID morons (sorry Sally if you worked for El Cid) start searching my apartment and harassing me. I break the shit up and now I am a target. All of this to protect this poor little Korean lady who insulted Americans. Do I condone it ? No, but I did not condone this lady trying to get some money for being slapped. and, what about those crazy CID agents who forgot about search and seizure laws. What does this have to do with anything. Absolutely nothing,, War, huh... absolutely nothing...say it again. BBMag Hall of Famer Charlie Lee at www.charlieleekarate.com 2465 Centerville Road Herndon, VA 20170 (703) 713-3300 I believe it's about 10 or 12 miles from Annandale to Herndon. There is also a World Tang Soo Do School in NoVa I believe it's called NoVa Tang Soo Do, if I remember the instructor is a (now) 3rd Dan who trained under 7th Dan William R. Never in history has there been so much needless violence in the USA and Canada, and I strongly believe that this has a lot to do with the fact that perpetators are are quite literally getting awaqy with murder (and a whole array of other offenses). IMHO, lack of appropriate punishment has not done our system much good.
