Please see this list serve KMA FAQ for further information on Chosondo (Choson Kwon Bup). I would like to add that I changed the name of the art from Chosondo to Choson Kwon Bup. Believe me, GM Atamian was not happy about this, but I had my reasons for doing so. For one thing, I felt that the current name more accurrately reflected the history, practice, and philosophical underpinnings of the art. The first extensive article on the art appeared in TKD Times in 1984 (probably before most of you time in MA). There have been several articles and editorials since. A comprehensive book and video tapes are currently being prepared. Also, several articles are also being written to be submitted to TKD Times and other MA publications for publication. So, there will be a lot more about the art in the media in the near future. In the mean time, I would be happy to roll around on the mat and exchange skills and ideas with whoever wants to. That's where I do my best work. Ian A. S Hyun, who was my teacher for 15 years. A web site http://www.hapkido.ws/southschool.htm will give you specifics on this location and has links that give information on the staff as well as other particulars. This is probably the oldest continuously operation Hapkido school in the Chicago area. Grandmaster Hyun's school during my tenure there was an excellent facility with dedicated instructors and a base of adult students a good portion of whom were active duty law enforcement personnel for whom the techniques and attitude had to be street real and not sport or demonstration stuff. Stop in, check it out, and say "hello" for me.
