I was there in '93 - '94. The King Club comment was right on! I witnessed several confrontations between drunk Army Infantry and Air Force guys. "Pride" fights more or less.. What was the name of the bar at the top of Hooker Hill on the left right before you got to the Hilltop Hotel? I heard after I left that it had burned down. That was my favorite bar to hang out at whenever I got a chance to go to Seoul from Pan Mun Jom. Being from WV, there was alot of WV people that hung out there for some reason.. The place that Ken mentioned where mamma-san read the bible rings a bell too. It's kind of a blurr now. I would love to go back now as a civilian. Someday I will. Thanks you guys. His daughter recently witnessed an Australian team jumping in and out of ice baths after competition (Netball). Apparently it was in order to get rid of the lactic build up in the muscles. Recovery rate is very good as a result Anyone heard of this and any medical people able to explain it to me? The problem was that that club attracted a young crowd--straight out of the foxholes of the DMZ border. Does 2nd ID guys ring a bell ? I remember once I wanted to make some Korean girl jealous of me. So I walked into the King Club, met a Korean Lady, and brought her to the place where this other Korean Lady was bartending up the street in Itawon. That did not go over to well. I heard about that for the next few weeks. But you got to play the game my man ! I met two very nice Korean ladies in the King Club. Both were friends. One was a School Teacher and was a wonderful person. She showed me around Seoul. Take your wife to the Hilton Hotel bar and lounge. It is up on a hill. On the weekends they have live bands. It is very upscale and a Yuppie type crowd. You can really enjoy the nightlife in Seoul with little fear of crime. Eat at one of those all night tents on the streets. Great ambiance. I understand what your saying about going to certain places with your wife. When I am in Cebu, PI, I play the Catholic Priest and pass out the holy water. I can't go out anywhere and ply my perverted debauchery. Family thinks I should join the monastery. He he. Have you stopped by any Dojangs in Seoul ? I am curious as to who is teaching at the Army Base at Seoul. I think the Dragon Inn at Yongsan is a nice place to bring your wife and family for a great buffet type meal. You can also take a bus from Yongsan directly to Osan AFB, Songtan for about $5.00. Then go shopping in Songtan. When in Osan stop by a clothes shop called "Dress for Success". It is on the left hand side of the street as you leave Osan AFB main gate. The owner is a nice guy and will tell you good places to eat. Use chop sticks, and do not scratch yourself with them. This is not a courteous sign. When completely done eating take the chopsticks and place them diagonally over your plate. When eating Bulgogi, take the lettuce and place rice, vegs, and kimchee along with the strips of Bulgogi. Roll the lettuce up and eat as if a taco. Just some tips for the day. Oh, no tipping in any Korean restaurants. When in Songtan there is a great leather shop on main street. I am trying to recall the name. They will custom make a leather jacket for you for around $150.00. I had an old World War II bomber jacket made. On the back I had a painting of a svelte Korean Lady smoking a cigarette with the following caption "Night Mission." It reflected some of my reconaissance missions into the watering holes of Southeast Asia. The lady is holding a card that read "Target number one". Ladies of this list: not male chauvinistic statements intended and I encourage you to have a leather jacket made as well. Stay loose and try the chicken with rice cooked inside. I forget the name of this dish. Final dish suggestion: When out dancing and drinking try the "morning soup" to help you get a semblance of balance back. Ciao, Big Ken P.S. Here is a great tip: when in Songtan, stop by the VFW club located in the basement of a hotel. You can eat a great meal and have good drinks for half the price of those fancy smancy Songtan clubs. Then go out dancing. Yahoo! This past weekend a meeting was held of Senior staff and officers of the ITF in Toronto, Canada. Prior to the meetings opening we were contacted by Mrs. Choi and requested to visit her at her residence. She stated to those of us in attendance that the Generals will and final statement should still be executed by the ITF. General Choi asked Mrs. Choi to affirm that he wished Mr. Chang Ung of North Korea to be his successor and that he knew some members would not stay as part of the ITF; however, he also wished that we should push forward and rebuild making the ITF stronger for the future. The day after the Generals passing I drafted two statements, one announcing the Acting-President and the other stating the Generals will and final wishes. Both of these statements were withheld from the general membership by certain Senior officers of the ITF. This I find to be a dishonest way to run our organization and as such I made the Generals will public through the Internet. I now make my opinion known to all of you. I believe we should continue forward with the proceedings and business of the ITF in a democratic manner. I have made several attempts to provide guidance to the Senior staff and officers of the ITF, unfortunately to date all of my suggestions have fallen on deaf ears. I believe that we should attempt to follow the Generals will and final wishes to the best of our abilities. We should continue ITF business as usual with Russell MacLellan serving as Acting-President until the next ITF congress in June of 2003. At this time a to vote to approve the next President of the ITF should be conducted by all NGB's present. As per the Generals request, Mr. Chang Ung should be highly considered for this position and your approval. I thank you for taking the time to consider my thoughts and suggestions. Each of you must determine what course to follow and as such determine future of the ITF, our ITF. Sincerely, Grand Master Hwang K.S. After weeks of rejection to the summons, Sgt. Mark Walker and Sgt. Fernando Nino of U.S. 2nd Infantry Division voluntarily presented themselves before Cho Chong-chol, the prosecutor in charge of the case, in the morning. The prosecution's questions focused on the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Shim Mi-son and Shin Hyo-sun on June 13. They were run over by an armored vehicle that was participating in a training exercise in Yangju, northern Gyeonggi-do province. At the center of the investigation was the question why the track commander's sighting of the two girls failed to make it to the driver, investigatyors said. "There are many missing pieces in the puzzle here, which I hope the prosecution's investigation will fill in," said Lee Jeong-hee, legal counsel for the victimsnull families. On July 27, the prosecution summoned 11 soldiers and military personnel involved in, or connected to the case. The victims' families and activists have put the case's trial in a Korean court at the top of their demands. However, a USFK statement released last weekend indicated it would not give up its jurisdiction of the case. The USFK has to make the decision before Aug. 21. With protests over the U.S. military's alleged neglect in the incident spreading nationwide, a committee leading anti-U.S. protests connected to the case has moved its headquarters from Uijongbu to Seoul. Protests are planned for Wednesday and Saturday this week in Seoul. --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang http://the-dojang.net It's a great day for Taekwondo!
