The organisation is called the Foreign Instructors of Korean Martial Arts Association (FIKMAN). FIKMAN (pronounced 'thick-man') will endeavour to represent the interests of foreign instructors of Korean martial arts, dictate standards for gradings, and generally interfere in the natural running of local clubs. FIKMAN will offer exclusive benefits not given to members of other organisations. There will be a yearly (more frequently if the budget allows) seminars in popular locations such as Barbados, Fuji, and Mauritius. The seminars will be invitational (because we don't want the beaches being crowded while we, err, practise) but all members will receive a free video of the techniques taught during the course. The video will be about 40 minutes long and will include 30 minutes of medative material. A limited edition, 3-video set covering in more detail the techniques used in the course will be available for only $999 (non-refundable). Grading requirements earned in other martial arts will be respected and can be used in our exclusive point system (1 dan grade = 0.25 points) to calculate your grade in our organisation. To become a recognised master and a eternal member of our organisation is hard but not impossible. To ensure that only the highest standards are maintained and that the executive committee is composed of only the greatest living martial artists, we will require that a master has been recognised by us as being a master of 5 Korean martial arts of our choosing, or, alternatively, has given sufficient monetary support to the good of the executive committee and organisation. Although our instructors and students are learning Korean martial arts, we feel no need to stuff our committee with Korean 'heads' to give the impression of authenticity. Indeed, we take the view that given the organisational strife that has resulted from family disputes among Korean founders it is necessary to specifically exclude Koreans from executive positions in FIKMAN. We are committed to upholding the democratic traditions and we hold regular meetings with members where members will be invited to agree with the executive committee. Strict procedures have been introduced to ensure that these meetings run smoothly and take no longer than 10 minutes. Free discussion is encouraged and the executive reserves the right to expel and slander any member who disagrees with our policies. My brother has kindly accepted a position to ensure that nepotism does not take route in our organisation and my eldest daughter (aged 4 in Korean counting) has been nominated as financial controller. Remember we are only doing this for you!
