I know it was pouring there in Inchon last Sunday when we went to the airport. Wish our trips would have matched up. If you have any interest in the Inchon landing from the Korean war, the museum and monument there is nice to go through. Have fun at the HKD games. When I told Yi-saeng about them being there in Inchon she said we should have taken our vacation at a different time, though our work schedules didn't allow it. Anyway, have a great time in Inchon. Something I never had over there. :-) When Yi-saeng and I were reading your post together she said, Nooo, even if they have it, they won't turn it on, maybe fans, but not air conditioning. :-) I know the feeling, last week when we were over there my dobok would be completely drenched by the end of class. Take care and have a great time, Alain www.burrese.com --__--__-- Message: 3 From: Ray Terry To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net (The_Dojang) Date: Fri, 9 Aug 2002 10:12:40 -0700 (PDT) Subject: [The_Dojang] more on the 'scandal' Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Not sure of the validity of this information. Just forwarding as an fyi. Forwarded message: The U.S. Taekwondo Union, 'concerned and dismayed' over allegations that judging at the 2000 Olympics was manipulated, is advocating a switch to electronic scoring before the next Games in 2004. 'It is my hope that we will work toward removing subjective scoring ... as early as the next Olympic Games ( news - web sites) through the technological advances we have been pursuing,' USTU President Sang Lee wrote Wednesday in a letter to World Taekwondo Federation President. Former WTF vice president Lee Chong Woo is quoted in the April issue of Shindonga, a Korean-language magazine, as saying he manipulated the judging to favor South Koreans in Sydney. Monday, he denied making the statements. U.S. Olympic officials have requested an International Olympic Committee (news - web sites) investigation into the matter. U.S. taekwondo officials said in a news release they 'welcome and invite an inquiry.' Sang also sent a letter Wednesday to U.S. Olympic Committee President Marty Mankamyer that in part sought USOC support for developing electronic scoring to the point where it can be used reliably. USOC executive committee member Herb Perez said no more investment is needed because he said he tested a system three years ago, based on pressure sensitivity in target areas, that was 'perfect.' 'Nobody will use it. The reason is it will eliminate all subjectivity,' said Perez, a taekwondo champion at the 1992 Games, when it was a demonstration sport. USTU spokesman Bruce Harris said the system needs to differentiate between pushes and kicks. --__--__-- Message: 4 From: Gregory Giddins To: "'the_dojang@martialartsresource.net'" Date: Fri, 9 Aug 2002 13:13:03 -0600 Subject: [The_Dojang] water part II Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net On questioning 64 oz of water per day: http://www.dartmouth.edu/dms/news/2002_h2/08aug2002_water.shtml (take note, though, that strenuous workouts change the views) What I found most interesting are his views on dark urine indicating 'dehydration', and the thirst reflex. Cross training to our instructor is treated as being disloyal to the club even to the extent that when he went on holiday we attended one of the Dan grades clubs ,from our dojang ,and were told in a polite way that this was not acceptable !. I find this very strange from a organisation who's Grand master is 9th Dan TSD and a 6 Dan TKD, shouldn't we follow his example and Cross train? paul --__--__-- Message: 7 Date: Fri, 9 Aug 2002 16:32:59 -0700 (PDT) From: Sun Mu Kwan-USA To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] RE: Jae Dan Bop In & Sa Dan Bop In Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net <> Doesn't it have something to do with the way the Korean government issues license for martial arts organizations?
