E.g. England - Korea, USA - Korea, Chung Do Kwan - Moo Duk Kwan I think that the principles will be the same e.g. get heart rate up, stretch etc and that the class will consist of more or less the same things e.g. basics, poomse, sparring etc. It is the specific methods, duration and exercises used that are interesting me. If anybody has any information it would be appreciated. Thanks Damian Jones _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com --__--__-- Message: 2 Date: Sun, 15 Sep 2002 12:30:00 -0700 (PDT) From: Sun Mu Kwan-USA To: Dojang digest Subject: [The_Dojang] KOREA AIKIBUDO Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net I came across this website the other day and I was wondering if anyone has heard of them before. Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Greetings all, Can anyone recommend a good dojang and/ or instructor in Seoul? I live in Hwayang-dong (konkuk Station). I am interested in learning Hapkido but the few schools that I have found do not seem to have dedicated adult students. As self-motivated as I am.....I still find it difficult to take a class full of screaming children. And practicing self-defense techniques with partners who are 4'3" and 100lbs leaves a lot to be desired! Perhaps someone can tell me where there is Hapkido headquarters in Seoul or email me a contact number. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!!!! Ending 14 hours of negotiations, the two sides also reaffirmed the 41-point agreement made in February last year on safeguards for joint work by their troops inside the border, including installing a direct hotline. The troops from their militaries will start work to clear thousands of land mines strewn inside the demilitarized zone (DMZ) at 9 a.m. on Thursday, one day after the Koreas tear down barbed wire to build cross-border railways and parallel roads. ``The South and North Korean militaries agreed on the wording of the agreement on joint safeguards to ensure safety for workers in the western and eastern sector of the border, the Defense Ministry said in a press release. The agreement included the establishment of guard posts, each 250 meters away from the military demarcation line, inside two transportation corridors _ the Seoul-Kyongui line _ 250 meters _ and the Tonghae (east coast) line _ 100 meters _ across the border. A code of conduct for the troops of the two militaries, designed to prevent accidental military clashes, specified that no construction of military installations should be allowed other than the guard posts and rail and road links, according to the agreement. The enforcement of the agreement is expected to take place on Tuesday, one day before the start of work on the cross-border transportation project, said Lt. Col. Chung Sang-jong, a spokesman for the Defense Ministry. Reconnecting a railway and a parallel road between Seoul and Shinuiju through the western sector of the 4 km-wide border was a key part of the inter-Korean summit agreement two years ago. In May, a South Korean presidential envoy also succeeded in acquiring North Korean leader Kim Jong-ils agreement to build another set of rail and road links through the eastern sector of the border, largely aimed at revitalizing the money-losing Mt. Kumgang tourism project. The two militaries will hold a new round of talks today to exchange their own versions of the agreement bearing the signature of defense chiefs at the pavilion of Tongilgak on North Koreas side of the border village of Panmunjom. During the meeting, the two sides will discuss the installation of a hotline, a major step forward in military confidence building measures. A hotline was implemented following a joint communique on July 4, 1974, but North Korea unilaterally severed it shortly after the August 1976 ax murder incident, which left two American soldiers dead at the Bridge of No Return inside the DMZ. ``On Tuesday, they plan to trade the agreements at the pavilion of Peace House on South Koreas side of the border after their defense chiefs have signed them, Chung added. The military agreement came nearly three months after the South and North Korean navies exchanged gunfire near the disputed western sea border, which torpedoed the inter-Korean peace process. After North Korea expressed regret over the incident, they revived a host of inter-Korean events last month, including the railway project. Military cooperation is vital to the inter-Korean transportation project because the railways and roads will run through the mine-infested no-mans land that divides the peninsula. --__--__-- Message: 6 From: "bill" To: Date: Sun, 15 Sep 2002 20:38:17 -0500 Subject: [The_Dojang] modern history Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net check out this site http://martialartsresource.com/anonftp/pub/the_dojang/digests/history.html bill m --__--__-- Message: 7 From: "Bill Bleakley's Taekwondo" To: Date: Sun, 15 Sep 2002 20:03:42 -0400 Subject: [The_Dojang] Little Dragons Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Anyone else out there teaching Little Dragons? I am interested in finding out what everyone else is using for a curriculum in their classes. Understanding that it is a junior curriculum what are your goals and expectations. Also, how are you having kids understand and enforcing discipline within the class.
