Mike knows that we don't agree on the Pelligrini issue and we have argued many many times but I would never threaten or condone such activity by or to anyone on here. My thing is that we can disagree all the time but keep it at that, I DO respect the fact that Mike works out all the time instead of typing about it and commercializing it. There has never been a problem between him and I about the working out part and I know he works out hard,, that's what I respect.. Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Charlie, you asked if there were any forms in hapkido... For the most part, no. There are some organizations that have forms in hapkido such as the WHF, but even they did not have them originally. Hapkido is traditionally application based. Having spent over 20 years in the land of taekwondo, I personally hated hyung/poomse as we had so many of them in the old ITF days, and then when I switched from ITF to WTF it started all over again. Happily, we do not practice forms in our dojang except that the children have 3-basic hyung to learn. But I say that with a caveat. Hapkido technique can be practiced with or without a partner and if you practice a technique alone are you not practicing a form in some manner? Jere R. It was the Hwarangdo that put this out. If I remember correctly it was part of their "ninja" training. However, I haven't met any other Korean martial artists or Koreans for that matter who has heard of it. Jeremy __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Such behavior I thought would be beneath the members in the martial arts community and those on this list. However, the individual used an anon. mail address system and has made identification difficult. I hope that these attacks will cease and never show themselves again, especially since laws on this subject are getting stronger....." I am sincerely sorry to hear that happened to you. I was sure that I was the only one. Apparently someone took exception to things I have said and submitted one of my responses of the VA in the form of a complaint. As in your case the matter was done anon and cast all sorts of aspersions on me by using a response I had written culled specifically from the DD. Since I was not in any violation of VA policy or procedures thats not where the damage was done. Rather I was deeply disappointed to think that someone would conduct themselves in this fashion in order to retaliate for something I had said. Remember, purportedly participants here are supposed to have benefited from the character-building benefits of martail art training. The experience has not altered my desire to advocate for a higher standard of quality in KMA or its teaching. It has however, lowered my estimation of the sort of regard I can expect for my efforts. Sorry about your experience. Hope things get better. Perhaps this is a function of a persons' build but I have found that practice of Naifanchi is great for conditioning the ankles to take the impact generated when executing kicks. I think it must work something like the way that hitting a body bag not only conditions the hands but the wrists as well, ne? FWIW. What exactly am I hearing you say? Just thought I'd let everyone know about a regional Black Belt Camp that my org held last weekend. We had lots of concurrent sessions with Master instructors. Even had our KJN Shin, Jae Chul down from Philly. He led several sesions of ki gong exercises and meditation over the weekend. Also had the opportunity to attend 3 sessions taught by visiting Master John Godwin, who belongs to our org, but also is one of Ji Han Jae's private students up in Philly. Was my first formal intro to DJN Ji's Hapkido, and I was quite impressed. Master Godwin is a very talented and energetic teacher, so if anyone has a chance to attend a seminar or session under him, I don't believe you will be disappointed. M Godwin also is very talented with a jang bong, especially with Chinese whipstaff techniques. Master Richards, I got the chance to polish Wan Shu and learn Oh Sip Sa Bo under M Strong's watchful eye. Unfortunately, I didn't get to do more since I also had teaching duties. Funny how these folks never seem to remember their own name or address. I am also sure that none of the better known Masters on this list would stoop to such behavior, regardless on their position on your Instructor.
