I currently study TKD. I would ideally like to begin studying Hapkido also but there are no Hapkido Dojangs where I live. However there are several Akido dojos. Could anyone enlighten me on the different styles of Akido and what "style" might be the closest to Hapkido? Thought you might find them interesting. I was wondering however, is Quicktime the best format to show movie files? My Mac only let's me convert my camera input to Quicktime (or I must spend several $$$$ or €€€€ on editing programs). Maybe someone knows of a way to convert .mov to mpeg or divx. -- Kind regards, Klaas Barends http://www.hapkido.nl/ --__--__-- Message: 4 From: "Braeswood Martial Arts" To: Date: Tue, 22 Oct 2002 11:25:37 -0500 Subject: [The_Dojang] 32nd Can-Am Tournament Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net WOW!!!!!!!!! What a week! I spent last week up in Sault Ste Marie Ont. Canada, and was made to feel at home from the moment I stepped off the plane. The week started with great training at Timmerman's Martial Arts and ended with the 32nd Annual Can-Am Tournament hosted by Grand Master Rudy Timmerman. Master Timmerman and his students are excellent hosts and I recommend EVERYONE make the trip next year. You will not be disappointed. For those still able and willing Grand Master Verkerke hosted an excellent seminar on Sunday at Master Timmerman's dojang. This man has great knowledge and I am lucky to have been able to work with him. Thank you GM Verkerke. As I had time to meet more of Master Timmerman's students on this trip as well as their families I was repeatedly asked when I would be hosting a Tournament down here in the south. I think they just want warmer weather :) But let's put it out there for a tally and see what happens. How many DDers would participate in the Can-Am tournament held here in Houston? I must take this time to thank Master Instructor Lorne Keatly for his help and support with my training. And a very sincere Texas thanks goes to the Fischer family for opening their home to me while I was in the Sault. Thank you again Master Timmerman for a great Tournament and training!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sereff Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net To all USTF Masters, Instructors and Members. Today I tendered my resignation and that of the membership of the United States Taekwon Do Federation ("USTF") from the ITF, effective immediately. I decided to take this action because of the General's unfortunate death and because this action is in the best interest of my students and the USTF. I have been a loyal student and supporter of General Choi Hong Hi for nearly forty (40) years; therefore, I will continue to honor his memory by teaching his style of Taekwon Do within the United States. I will advise you as to the impacts of my resignation from the ITF shortly. Thank you for your continued support. Sincerely Grand Master Charles E. Glad you had a good time! Hope to see you in Jackson next spring. Charlie, did you make it over to Texas for this event? Bruce, are you going to the Seminar in Fort Wayne in November (next month) with Master West? I have my group going and a taekwondo school that I support locally, so I think this year will be bigger than last year. Jere R. The team will give public demonstrations at the Kukkiwon on Thursday and Friday. Unfortunately, though I would dearly like to go, I will be unable to go. If anyone on the list is able to attend, please post a report.
