If you want to convert to mpeg or avi you can buy quicktime pro http://www.apple.com/quicktime/upgrade/ for $30 USD. It allows you to do some other really cool stuff as well, effects and such. on 10/22/02 10:23 PM, the_dojang-request@martialartsresource.net at the_dojang-request@martialartsresource.net wrote: > I was wondering however, is Quicktime the best format to show movie > files? > My Mac only let's me convert my camera input to Quicktime (or I must > spend several > $$$$ or €€€€ on editing programs). > Maybe someone knows of a way to convert .mov to mpeg or divx. --__--__-- Message: 2 From: Ray Terry To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net (The_Dojang) Date: Tue, 22 Oct 2002 19:51:33 -0700 (PDT) Subject: [The_Dojang] NK's Taekwondo Team to Arrive in Seoul Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net NK's Taekwondo Team to Arrive in Seoul October 22, 2002 Amid the growing controversy over North Korea's clandestine nuclear weapons development project, a North Korean taekwondo demonstration team will arrive in the South on Wednesday (Oct. 23) to help improve relations between the rivals' taekwondo associations and develop a set of sports exchanges. The Norths move comes only one week after the Busan Asian Games, where the impoverished nation sent its delegation for the first time to a South-hosted international sports event. The taekwondo teams visit is in return for a South Korean groups tour last month to Pyongyang. At the time, South Korean officials made a range of proposals, including the exchange of athletes, joint training for international competitions and the promotion of taekwondo and other sports exchanges. The North Korean team, comprising some 41 athletes, officials and journalists, will use a direct air route over the West Sea to arrive at Incheon International Airport in the morning. They will then move to the Seoul Olympic Park in eastern Seoul, where they plan to make a couple of demonstrations for a selected crowd, South Korean officials said. The South's taekwondo association said officials from both sides will have unofficial contacts to seek ways to integrate the international norms of the Korean traditional martial art, developed separately by the two rivals for the past decades. The North is a member of the International Taekwondo Federation, which has many members among former communist nations, while the South is a member of the World Taekwondo Federation, established and managed by Kim Un-yong. The two federations competition rules and game attires are quite different, for example, the WTF uses head gear and body protectors while the ITF doesnt use any protective equipment for competition. According to the trip schedule, the North Korean team will have their first demonstration tomorrow afternoon and will meet WTF Chairman Kim Un-yong. The next day, the team will take part in an evening party hosted by the Souths taekwondo association after their second demonstration. They will return to the North on Saturday afternoon after a brief sightseeing tour in Seoul. --__--__-- Message: 3 Date: Tue, 22 Oct 2002 20:48:14 -0700 (PDT) From: Ryan Parks Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] Getting Winded While Sparring To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net There's really no way that you can really not get just dead tired after even one to two minutes of intenses sparring, but I've found almost the only wat to develop any type of resistance to fatigue is to work on your aerobic and anaerobic stamina. I won't go into detail but improving your aerobic stamina will allow you to go longer periods of time and still giving it your all, and anaerobic stamina will help you develop you ability to explode off the mat and produce power on the spot, with short periods of rest, which is basically what sparring it is; there are a lot of great excercises you can do for these (I'll give you my personal regimen, taken from Taekwondo: The State of the Art, which you can buy at Amazon.com, or a bookstore). Every other day I do distance running for Aerobic Stamina (3-5 miles), and every day besides those I do sprinting and knee ups for anaerobic stamina. More detailed info is in the book, and you don't have to do it every day, because even if you do it two or three times a week, I guarantee that you'll be very happy with how much your sparring improves.
