Wollmershauser Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net I also wish to express my condolences to the family of Master Mike Wollmershauser. I first met Master Mike when he came up and sat on one of my testing boards in the mid-1970's. Master Mike was a 4th dan HKD & 2nd dan TKD under GM PARK, Jung Hwan at the time. His HKD was a pleasure to feel (and you know what a pleasure actually means). Like Mike McCarty, I too would go to his Springfield KI Rated tournaments in the days of "Nasty"Anderson, Larry Kelly, Billy Blanks, etc. This was also when Arlene Limas was still "Ms. Kung Fu" and battling it out with Linda D. The tournaments always were fun (although they ran late) and the post-tournament parties always interesting. Whenever I met him, Master Mike was always a gentleman. Thinking of him reminds me of those fun times! Dana _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your messages with MSN 8. I was wondering if anyone knows where to find good up-to-date MA news. I was asked to write news articles for a friend's website. Problem is, I don't know where to look (besides on the big fed sites). Thanks in advance. Actually, this is technically incorrect, according to the ITF. If you read General Choi's encyclopedia it clearly shows the chamber position for a side piercing kick as having the kicking foot cocked at the knee of the stationary foot. (In fact, the footsword of the kicking foot is supposed to be drawn to the opposite knee joint.) Also, in preparation, the knee of the kicking leg points at about a 45 degree angle. These two things rule out having the sole of the foot pointing at the target and the leg perpindicular to the floor before executing the kick. I've been to seminars with Master Choi, Jung Hwa and GM Hwang, Kwang Sung and they were both very clear on this point. Taekwon, Chris __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? BUT what I have observed more differentiating is my association, US Chung Do Kwan. I've gone to and have been part of other organizations where the instructors could and did teach differently from school to school (is it a low block or a down block? a high block or a rising block?). USCDKA maintains a uniform curriculum from which you may add to but not take away. My students and Black Belts can and have gone to other USCDKA schools and have been able to perform the drills and forms without looking lost. Also, I have been to schools where the instructors practiced non-MA activities in their curriculum, e.g. Zen meditation, etc. The USCDKA is founded on Christian principles and although I do not make my students pray, I also don't make them meditate and chant. A quick announcement. Over the last many months I've been working to create a new system of Eskrima, or at least my system of Eskrima. Sudlud Eskrima is based on, and is a combination of, Inayan Eskrima and Doce Pares as well as other martial arts experiences I've had over the last 35 years. "Sudlud" in Sudlud Eskrima and the Sudlud Eskrima Association (SEA) is taken from "The Sudlud", a mythical character well known to Inayans. Thats it... Just wanted to get the word out. It is my hope that this creation brings yet more smiles to my late instructor, Mike Inay.
