I have been looking around for different approaches to staff fighting, such as Japanese Bojutsu and European Quarterstaff. I really like working with staves, and I am interested to see if the Koreans had their own take on the matter. Thanks, Kent Frazier P.S. Ray, I assume the reason why most people use the term 'bo' is because 'bong' has other, less martial-arts oriented meanings, and its easier to use the Japanese term to avoid confusion. --__--__-- Message: 3 Date: Mon, 30 Dec 2002 20:59:54 +0800 To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net From: Stan Lim Subject: [The_Dojang] Aikido schools for kids near San Jose, CA? Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Hello folks, A friend of mine will be moving (back) to the San Jose, California area in July. Her 4-year old son recently took up Aikido and loves it. They would like to continue his lessons once they relocate back to San Jose. Are there any Aikido schools that accept kids between San Jose and San Francisco? Addresses, phone numbers, description of programs, testimonials, etc. are all welcomed. Thank you for your assistance. Sorry, I couoldn't pass up the pun! Uh, I think the tung oil absorption thing is a little bit like asbestos or acetone tolulene or any other number of pretty toxinc chemicals that can be abosrbed through your skin in microscopic ammounts. No less dangerous to us human types though. Linseed oil is really good stuff, and once you've sweated on your bo (Bong?) it takes up a really pretty shine. And just for the record, I think that a martial artist SHOULD be able to pick up any weapon and crack open some skulls, but that it's totally okay to prefer a particular weight/length etc. Happy New year! ________________________________________________________________ Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month! Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Just a question, I just recently visited an ATA school, and started learning Sangham 5. I aksed around and nobody heard of sangham 1, 3 & 4. (They did teach number two.....) Is this a common practice? Who invented the sangham forms anyway? and anybody know of a website I can find it on? Thanks!
