Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Bruce, While I don't agree with your advice for Kent, I am glad to see you around again. How have you been, and how was your holidays? Hopefully good. Christmas here in Louisiana was delightfully warm, a little rainy, but good overall. YITMA, Charlie Veuleman ===== ------------------------------------- L. Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Does anyone out there believe in jinxes? I've competed in 3 major competitions- exempting their qualifiers- but in all, I lose out @ the quarter final stage. Medals table seeming so near yet so far. For competetions I train under my maiden instructor who is nationally known as "world class" and well respected as a creative player. He trains vigorously and practically yet all competitions he also has attended, he plays out at the quarter final stage. He trained me from White to RedBelt. Now I'm 2Dan and still can't seem to make it happen. Something always goes wrong at quarter finals: Blistered feet becomes unuseable and twice I lose in a keenly contested match. Anyone with suggestions? I fear my students may this carry on. Thanks. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. The linseed oil is the best, in my IMHO , as they penetrate and allow the wood to breathe. But, be very careful working with it as it can spontaneously combust on application rags. ( I speak from experience ). The best and safest way I've found is to get a piece of 2" pvc 4-6" longer than the staff and cap one end. Put your staff inside and fill up with linseed oil. Then put a removable top on. Leave it for about 3-4 weeks (depending on the hardness of the wood) and be sure to check it and top off frequently. Take it out and hang from a tree for a few days remembering to switch ends. If you're going to add any painted graphics do this afterward as the linseed oil can sometimes lift the paint. yours in the arts, michael whalen KSWnut --__--__-- Message: 4 Date: Thu, 2 Jan 2003 14:17:09 -0600 (CST) From: To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] =?iso-8859-1?Q?Re:_Activities?= Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Dear Michael: ".....Often many people say that these organizations are NOT the same thing. However Directly from the Korean Kido Hae they say that the World Kido Hae is a subsideary of their organization....." As many times as we go over these inter-relationships in and among organizations, there still does not seem to be much in the way of scheduled occasions coming up here in the States in the Next year. Is GM Seo's health really that bad? Is someone stepping in to take over his training responsibilities? Should we be aware of some pending changing of the guard in the next 24 months or so? Inquiring minds would like to know.
