I know he was/is a brown belt under them for a good long > while, and was just wondering if he had made it to black. He's a very > impressive man. I've long admired Chuck Norris. It was he, not David Carridine, that got me interested in martial arts at a early age. Not his movies either. I dimly remember watching a couple of his fights on t.v. It's just too bad that schools like that weren't available in small towns like mine until I got older. As far as Black Belts, I've sort of lost track of his pursuit of martial arts since he remarried and his wife had twins. What's he doing now other than changing diapers? Lies in TKD Times? You will pay for your Black > Deeds!" I don't quite understand what that person is objecting to. Was it that the Chubby Hapkido GM lied to TKD Times instead of Black Belt Magazine? I thought you were being very nice and polite by only using the word "chubby". I thought that showed great restraint and political correctness. ________________________________________________________________ Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month! Instead of hard and soft, and I don't know anyone who would classify my HapKiDo as soft, I prefer: 1) I'm going to hit you harder and / or quicker than you can hit me, or: 2) I am going to put you in a position where you are either unwilling or unable to hit me at all. Another one of my favorite questions is, "is this a defensive or offensive style?". This is a punch, and if you use it first, then it's an "offensive" punch, but if you sidestep, block or otherwise avoid an attack, this same technique becomes a "defensive" move. I usually say that we teach techniques and you can use them on a "need" basis. As far as the recent article on GM Ji in TKD Times is concerned....PLEASE!!! On another note, Dr. Kimm has advised me that he will be in attedence at the 18th International HapKiDo get together in Jackson, MS on the weekend of the 8th of March, and will have a good supply of his books with him. I am looking forward to seeing my friends Master Ray Terry, Master Rudy Timmerman, Master Rich Hodder, Master Geoff Booth, Master Dennis McHenry and all the other "regular" denizens of both the event and the Dojang Digest. Thanx again to those that have extended their prayers and thoughts on the recent health problems faced by Master Mrs. West. Her recovery is coming along nicely, but she gave all of us a terrible scare, including my "medical staff" at the school who dropped what they were doing to make sure that she received the best care possible while at the ER and the SICU. It's good to see Bruce Sims alive and well after his problems with rodents in his computer.........Best wishes...JRW --__--__-- Message: 6 From: "michael tomlinson" To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Date: Thu, 09 Jan 2003 03:18:23 +0000 Subject: [The_Dojang] barbershop Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Hey I just watched the movie called "barbershop", and it has this little hidden moral thing underlying all the comedy, and it is basically that the old barbershops were places people could go sit wait on a haircut and discuss issues, talk shop etc.. get on each others nerves, laugh, have fun etc... and I just realized that in this new world of technology the Dojang Digest has become my "barbershop",, very cool, you see I shave my head myself so it's been a long time since I went to a barbershop, most of them now are salons anyway and most of the guys that cut hair in there are probably into butter wrestling instead of martial arts if you know what I mean!!! Michael Tomlinson Ray you are still the pimp buddy, and I've been to Louisville several times but never seen anybody at the mailbox... _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 with e-mail virus protection service: 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/virus --__--__-- Message: 7 From: "Jeffery Dean Sr." To: Date: Wed, 8 Jan 2003 21:37:25 -0600 Subject: [The_Dojang] RE: snailmail threats Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Ray, seems to me if weren't a fool he would have had the right PO Box number.
