I studied with Master Y.J. Chung many moons ago starting back in 1969, a few years ago when I visited him in Dayton while I was on vacation from where I live in Florida he told me his younger brother taught in Melbourne Florida,, too far from my house but I'm wondering if it is the same Chung family, Y.J. Chung is awesome,, he taught seperate classes for Judo---not Yudo, Tae Kwon Do, and Hapkido way back in the 60's and 70's,, great guy, and a fantastic kicker and thrower, Michael Tomlinson _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE*. http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail --__--__-- Message: 2 From: ABurrese@aol.com Date: Sat, 18 Jan 2003 15:04:55 EST To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Black Belt Magazine article Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Congratulations to list member Sharon Tkach for her article in the Feb. 2003 issue of Black Belt magazine. If you have not seen it, check it out on the stands now. It's a Hapkido article aimed at women. (and if you like the creative titles BB magazine likes to think up, for women who want to beat up men) :-) Have to love the way they title some things. Good article with supporting pictures. Check it out. And again, congrats to you, Sharon. Alain Burrese www.burrese.com --__--__-- Message: 3 From: Ray Terry Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] Incorporating something new = new art ? I tried to go to the archives but they said that that either my username or password was wrong. I have only receive Vol 10 # 27 and #29 since Friday, in which the last one I received was Vol. 10 #14. Could you resend what I am missing or let me know what my password is to get into the archives? Thank you. Jeremy __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net RG10475@AOL.COM , I don't believe the problem we are having is not knowing our history, I think the problem is how far back to we want to dwelve into history to prove a point. You want to go back to the beginning. Fine...I don't believe Boddirahma(I never know if I spelled that right) intended his Hindu breathing exercises to be developed into a fighting systems. Better yet, when the first cave man picked up a rock to smash the other cave man did he use a front stance for the execution or was it more of a walking stance. Ok, enough sarcasim. The bottom line is that a good number of these people on this list know their history, not only martial arts, but actual Korean history as well. However, when it is needed to make a point we most of the time we just need to go back a few years, now the dawn of time. Jeremy __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The archives are at ftp.martialartsresource.com. ftp to that URL and then 'cd' to directory pub/the_dojang/newdigests. You may then 'get' back issues. And where do you always find a farmer to walk with? :) Short of the awkward apparatus stuff, it is a lot of low-rep heavy-weight dumbell work? And??
