He personally teaches for hours on end. The format of seminars I attended also had his two sons and his son in law assist to make sure each attendee was looked after. In my book, he does a great job! I just wish the Canadian dollar (at 50% or so) did not make it too hard for Canadians to attend (or bring him over). I have recieved no bad emails on this, I am just feeling a little guilty for shooting my mouth off. I have a problem with being classy as most of you know. I have the utmost respect for GM Seo, I think he has done tons of great things for the martial arts thru the years, and I totally respect his art of Kuk Sool Won I think it is a cool spin off on Hapkido, I just don't personally see the significance of the pelligrini connection and that is why I would not show up,, but my respect to the real martial artists that will attend that event. No offense to anyone, just me being my cantankerous self again,, hey on the subject of martial artists has anyone noticed that the Chris Garland website with all the 4 or 5 pictures of the one Doju Nim Ji seminar has been taken off the net? What happened with that? The site is totally off the net? (vol. 23 of Dragon Times is the last issue, it will change names and format into Classical Fighting Arts Vol. 1) Also in Vol. 23 is an article on Chinese Military Manuals as well. This is getting silly and it seems like that all some people want to do is badmouth and criticize without even having a notion of what the facts are......" TG, you gotta lighten up a bit. The whole purpose of my original string was not to criticize. Times and resources for many of us are tough at best and people need information about what is actually planned at these various seminars before they committ time and money. For instance, GM Seo was planned to attend THE GATHERING in Chicago and I live in the Chicago area. But I would not have attended if I thought for a minute that he would have been limited to a 15 minute presentation over an entire weekend. The same goes for GM Seo being asked to present at this latest seminar in Florida. If it would cost someone air fare plus admission plus room for a weekend I am sure people would want to know just how long they could expect to have GM Seo as an actual presenter, ne? You are right. Maybe we DON't have the facts, but then, thats what the discussion is about, right? It would help if those involved in the development and promotion of this event would step in and say something official. I recently stumbled into this move and it worked great. I am only a blue belt in our system and it worked against a deputy belt (1 before black belt). We are generally taught to move in and out. But for some reason I started to circle him, caught him off guard and hit him with a solid back left leg roundhouse. I was able to hit him 2 more times doing this before time ran out. Something to work on. I believe it only took place because he taught during lunch and some of us gave up our teaching spots. Despite these little setbacks, I had a great time and truly enjoyed hoisting a few with you, GM DeAlba, Cyrus, and our Chicago hosts. Yes, Bruce should have been there:) I am visiting Chicago this July on the way to a Houston seminar with Kat Kelly. I am working on putting something together in Chicago on Sunday, July 27, but the details still need to be worked out......" I get a little nervous when folks start touting these larger seminars with a variety of presenters from sundry arts. In design its seems like a wonderful thing to have various arts come together in brotherhood but it never seems to workout in practice. It seems that one or two individuals take the lions' share of presentation time and it may, or may not, be the material that I am interested in. One of the nice things about Master Wests' Internationale is that the theme is predominantly Korean, and the presenters have multiple offerings so that one need not have to sacrifice one desired event for another. I think the reason Tampa caught me was that it is hosted by a Korean-style entity and would seem to be limited to Korean-style material. Now the question remains whether or not GM Seo will be providing the larger share of the instruction. BTW: I hope you will keep us posted on how things develop with the event you mentioned in your post for July. It was first announced on Saturday night that USA had won the Team Gold, but then Korea received it in the awards ceremony at the end of the games. Forwarded message: Stunner U.S. taekwondo team stuns world's number one, Korea By Cecil Bleiker // USOC Media Services // Feb. 15, 2003 United States Taekwondo Team Stuns Korea 4-3 On Final Night of 2003 Titan Games SAN JOSE, CALIF. -- A veteran and a rookie helped lead Team USA to a stunning upset victory over Korea, 4-3, tonight in the taekwondo team competition at the 2003 Titan Games at the Event Center at San Jose State University. The veteran, Steven Lopez (Sugar Land, Texas), the reigning Olympic and World Champion once again validated his number one world ranking by easily disposing of 2001 World Cup Taekwondo Championships bronze medalist Seon-taek Oh of Korea by the score of 2-0 in the men's Olympic welterweight division. The rookie, 16 year-old Taylor Stone of Denver, Colo. recorded was is easily the biggest victory of her young international career with a stunning 4-1 victory over the reigning World Cup Champion, Sung-hee Yun of Korea in the women's Olympic featherweight division. "I felt good," said Lopez. "I'm very happy with my performance. I feel a lot faster and a lot stronger in this new weight class. I can rock and roll and do a lot more things than before and it just feels really good. I feel really happy with what I did. Like they say, this is the road to Athens. These Titan Games are a preparation for us for the coming year and the Olympic qualifying competitions coming up. The crowd tonight was awesome. It's very rare to have the home court advantage, actually I have never had it. I've always had to fight Egypt in Egypt, Cuba in Cuba, Australia in Australia. This is the one time I had the luxury of having the home court advantage and it felt really good. It felt really good. It kind of gives you the edge and that extra surge of energy that you might need if you're down or just if you're on top it makes you want to get more points, get that knock-out or just look good out there and feel good." Taylor Stone who turned in one of the top performances for Team USA was very pleased with her performance tonight. "Just knowing it's Korea and they're the ones that created the sport, to be my first time fighting them and to beat one of them is really a confidence booster. It feels great." Also victorious for Team USA tonight were Simona Hradil (Houston, Texas/Colorado Springs, Colo.) and 2000 Olympian Kay Poe (Houston, Texas). Hradil had an impressive 6-2 win over Korea's Su-ok Kim in the women's Olympic welterweight division. Poe defeated Ji-hyun Kang of Korea on a 0-0 referee decision in the women's Olympic flyweight division. Korean taekwondo athlete, Hyun-Jung Youn, (Olympic heavyweight division) did not compete in tonight's event due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee that she suffered earlier in the day in her match with Yoriko Okamoto of Japan. Youn, the 2000 World Cup Taekwondo Championships silver medallist in the middleweight division, was scheduled to face Sanaz Shahbazi of the United States in tonight's match.
