Thank for your insight and please keep them coming. Additionally, I suppose most of you are wondering about my credentials and about my sense of professionalism since I asked for information about Mr Hackworth. First, I have been training in Taekwondo for fifteen years under independent, yet very traditional instructors. I have tested up to my third degree in Taekwondo under Jack Hwang in Oklahoma City, but I have studied under his longtime student WIlson Vann for most of my martial arts career. I came to Seoul, South Korea in 1999 to begin teaching at a Foreign Language High School. Since, I have risen to the position of college guidance counselor and my primary function is getting students into American universities. Upon my arrival I began studying KHF Hapkido and have risen to the rank of third degree and have earned the title 'BooSaBum' (assistant instructor). A couple weeks ago I saw the on new KHF Web site that they were building an English version. I contacted them and volunteered to help. During my first meeting (last Sunday) they mentioned looking for a US representative and mentioned Mr Hackworth. I told them I had heard of him, but did not know facts about him. Please, let me assure I am not interested in mudslinging or stirring up problems. So, if you have positive information I would like to pass it on as well. I only asked for negative information regarding Mr Hackworth because so many people were alluding to events of the past that I didn't know about. Additionally, I will only pass on any information only with the permission of those who provide it. I will print off the emails after I have received this and give them directly to one of the directors of the KHF without altering them in the least, save a spell check or two. I understand how dangerous it is to share information such as this. That is why I asked you to contact me directly or through this forum. As far as I'm concerned, I only want to help people understand the KHF. Again, I am not interested in slandering or hurting someone's reputation, especially my own. So, if you do not feel comfortable sending information, please don't. Otherwise, please send all your thoughts and ideas regarding what should be on KHF English Web site to me. Honestly, that's my primary objective. My request for information regarding Mr Hackworth was an afterthought that I added at the last moment. Thank you again for your help and insight. John A. I just wanted to thank all my friends for coming to my rescue and making this seminar and it's twin brother in the Fall a success. Many thanx to Master Timmerman, who apparently thinks that two sessions of imparting his wisdom isn't enough, so he teaches after hours breaking techniques in the parking lot, which started the rumor around town that there was a late night riot at the Clarion Hotel. Thanx to Master Hodder for his continued help and the guidance of all the TKD schools in the organization, and for just plain being my friend for a very long time. Thanx to Geoff Booth for being so bored downunder, that he continues to come to Jackson and teach and entertain, he alone is certainly worth the price of admission. Thanx to Master McHenry for taking the Tang Soo Do portion of the organization to ever increasing heights and for maintaining a sense of humor when dealing with the likes of me. Master Ray Terry has made himself an integral part of the mix, and the seminars just wouldn't feel right without him. Thanx also goes out to my senior students like Masters Hilland and Lyons for just plain doing a great job. And what more could I say about my own in-house guys like Mr. Tavassoli (who wasn't aware of his role as my demo partner until too late), Mangum, Propst and the rest of my assistant instructors at West's HapKiDo, and at my last count, I had 37 of my WHA dan holders in attendance. Last and certainly not least is Wayne Watkins, who actually runs the show and allows me to concentrate on the stuff I need to take care of personally, so if you had a good time, thank Wayne the next time you see him...I certainly will. I always look forward to seeing my old friends and making new ones, and without folks willing to "take the jump", we wouldn't have these seminars. I want to thank everyone who was so kind and gracious to Master Renee (meanest woman in the World) West, who was able to spend a few hours at the sessions on Friday and Saturday. Please know that your kindness aids greatly in her recovery and eventual return to the mat. It was great to see Dr. Kimm on Saturday, and I'm still amazed that he would take time out of his busy schedule to spend some time with us. I look forward to seeing everyone during the 19th International Seminar on the weekend of Sept. 13th, and I will be in Hampstead, MD on the 29th of March, and in Mosinee, WI on the 31st of May. Best wishes and thanx....J. R. Chung was my old teacher, good to hear he is the same Chung you were talking about. Yeah his technique was simply incredible. He would spar with "everyone" in class, in Judo, he would randori with "everyone" in class, and in Hapkido, he would do techniques against "everyone" in class, I saw him do this over and over days on end and never end up on the short end of the stick,, he is a great Martial Artist, and carries himself with honor and dignity. Will Master Hodder need a new pic now he has been promoted:) BTW, how come you snuck the DD pic while I was not there? Something wrong with Canadians? It is a long way to travel all the way to Jackson from your home. also, thanks for taking some pics for your article in BB mag. I hope it turns out well. While I am at it, I hope everyone interested in street defense purchased one of Alain's books or tapes. If you did not, I strongly suggest that you contact him, as the material he covers is a must for everyone who could use some solid advise from a man with first hand experience. Great to see you again Alain:) Sincerely, Rudy --__--__-- Message: 7 From: Ray Terry Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] Me and the KHF To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Date: Wed, 12 Mar 2003 19:48:51 -0800 (PST) Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net > Otherwise, please send all your thoughts and ideas regarding what should be > on KHF English Web site to me.
