It's very similar to Hapkido, but with a greater emphasis on forms and a lower stance - if you want mighty quads, this is the style for you :D I'm currently a white belt in KSW and I love it. I drive 40 min across my city to get to my dojang, and I think it's absolutely worth the trip. Try this site for listings of the schools, and more info on the art. http://www.kuksoolwon.com/schools.htm good luck! -rachel 2 --- ShipsofChittim@aol.com wrote: > Hello, I am 25yrs. old and I have competed in > Folk/Colligate and Greco-Roman > wrestling in both High school and College and I have > been an athletic person > for sometime now. > > I have immensely wanted to begin a study of the > Korean martial arts (and a > bit of the language perhaps), preferably Hapkido or > Yudo and possibly Tae > Kwon Do. GM Howard Lee is a senior Black Belt to Jhoon Rhee. There is, however, a root from Karate-Do in the CDK lineage. We have a very hard style of TKD. When we make contact, it is saying to someone "Hello. You have picked the wrong person to try to hurt." But, our terms are Korean. Our style is Korean. You rarely see many head kicks in Karate-Do. Chung Do Kwan is Korean. Trust me on this. I have many head dents the size of feet to prove this fact. I didn't mean to imply that the entire Chung Do Kwan uses Japanese terms, just that our group does (Chung Do Kwan through the lineage of Jhoon Rhee as taught to Atlee Chittim, for those of you who don't know.) Rereading the way I phrased it, I see now that I did indeed imply that it was the entire Chung Do Kwan. Sorry if there was any confusion. This is further proof of that fuzzy mind I was talking about. Thanks for the heads up for everyone Ray, its good to keep info correct and in order. Chong Jae Nim C.S. Kim requires all schools to be run in a traditional manner, and korean vocbulary for commands, conducting class, etc. is used. No matter what you are seeking from your training, I am sure you will find it at one of his or an ITF member school. I have been with this organization for many years now and can attest to the fact that it so far has been a wonderful journey.
