Well not quite...turns out during the warm up phase, my pants started to fall, and i panicked to fix them. I did manage to correct it, but i cudnt get the warm ups right and the master noticed. so the "master" decided to give me the "retard" advance belt because i need to be able to get rid of my "negative energy/nervousness" and now i have to wear this embarassing thing telling everyone in my class how i failed. I know that i passed the part of the test which was i to be tested. There were others in the class who looked sloppy and got promoted and i feel i wasted my money...I really have lost respect for my master and i want to change schools, but unfortunately i'm in the middle of a contract and i cant just leave... _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail --__--__-- Message: 2 Date: Sat, 14 Jun 2003 21:18:37 -0500 (CDT) From: To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] =?iso-8859-1?Q?Re:_Belt_Limits_?= Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Dear Manual: I don't know anyone who wears rank on their belts past the 4th Dan (Instructors) level. I suspect there are probably folks out there who do but actually, after 4th dan the point is truely mute. What I have seen is that most folks who are 6-9th dan usually wear a simple Black Belt-- occasionally double-wide--- and their technique and affiliation, organizationally, speak for them. In my case I still wear my first three dan strips and will probably wear my fourth dan stripes should I ever earn them. After that, should I need to have to wear stripes to advise people of my standing in Hapkido maybe I better seek out an alternate activity, yes? It sure is nice to see how many comments one can elicit from so many, especially if something might conflict their personal views. If my analogy on the samuri class was incorrect, please forgive me, as this is as close as I could think of to the Rangdo, and the Hwarang. In reference to GM Hwang Kee, our grandmaster studied with him and I must trust that the information he gives is correct. To those who had something constructive or relevant to offer I offer my heartfelt thanks. Perhaps he/she is not aware that your pants were falling and has a different perspective of what happened. .... regarding your contract situation, I do not know what state your in but in Texas there are laws that protect citizens regarding service contracts. You may want to look into it or if you have a friend who is an attorney you may want to go to them for advise if you are sure changing dojangs is the best solution. Hoping you find the solution you need and that you do not give up on your martial arts training....
