Difficult to answer that. What is required for someone to graduate from college? It can/will vary greatly... Kim, this September 13, in Laughlin NV at the Colorado Bell. Fellow martial artists from any style and of any rank are invited to join us for full day of training for a very modest fee. GM Kim was a student of Choi, Young Sool. He recently received Balck Belt Magazines Instructor of the year award. If you like self-defense technique, you will love JMW seminars. We hope to see you there. For more information, please email me. L7, Steve Petermann _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses. How about the amount of students times the monthly rent of the building held in escrow? So, if a school has 50 students, more than 4years of rent should be held in escrow. What other businesses should we apply these strictures too? Maybe we should apply the escrow idea to restaurants, just in case someone gets sick. Or to the local dance school, just in case they go out of business. In a capitalistic society, businesses fail. Sad but true. This discussion revolves around one question. What type of society do we want to live in? Do we want the government to try to make sure that no-one gets hurt- ever? Or do we want people to be responsible for their actions, including studying at a McDojang. If a MA school goes out of business AND fraud was committed, there are legal remedies. On the other hand, if some honest instructor opens a school, we can help him to go out of business by increasing the regulations and financial burdens. End result, no one, even honest instructors, open schools. "If some new MA instructor doesn't have the cash to meet the responsibilities shouldn't that tell folks something to start with? " What other business has this type of requirement? "If folks are so worried about the rights of the teachers and school managers how about that these teachers and school managers come up with some process or protocols to improve the quality of their peers?" You expect government to do what a myriad of organizations and NGB's can not. I was just on the phone with the widow of the late Master Mike Wollmershauser. She asked me to pass along this info to the group. The URL for the AHA is still ahahapkido.com. Apparently some new? group is attempting to claim that the -new- URL for the AHA is americanhapkidoassociation.com. She mentioned this was a group under a Mr. Danny Anderson. Her request was for me to let folks know that this -new- URL is not -the- URL for the AHA. And that this new group, also apparently along with Mr. Danny Anderson, has nothing to do with the AHA as founded by Mike Wollmershauser. It appears to me that most of the most of the public is not aware of the hard work and commitment invovled with a martial art, and want the cheapest, easiest, way to attain their goals. I don't know if it is the conflict between traditional eastern philosophy and the modern western mindset, or what the heck goes on sometimes. Also, it seems that most do not want to be fettered by traditional discipline while pursuing said goals. At times, I wish there was no belt system,(it seems only to feed western ego) and that the martial arts was portrayed as a form of self improvement only.
