So far I've found the following: 1. ITF, President Master Choi Jung Hwa (www.itf-admin.com ); Multiple US Governing Bodies? 2. ITF, President Master Tran Trieu Quan (www.itf-generalchoi.com ); US Governing Body = USTF 3. USITF, President ? (Gordon Jue & Rober Wheatley) 4. USA-ITF, KATU (Master Hwang) (www.itf-katu.com) 5. ITF, President Mr. Chang Ung (www.internationaltaekwon-dofederation.com ); US Governing Body (USA-ITF?) If anyone has any information on the split or any of the above organaizations or any that aren't mentioned. I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Regards, Jason E. Certainly. There is variation in many of these drills and exercises. My point was that within the Okinawan population not a few folks have gone off the deep end with body-shaking contractions of the antagonistic muscles that is both unhealthy and un-necessary. The same goes for some people who do Dan-jon breathing in Hapkido classes. In fact, I will go one step farther and state that for my money, I don't see the point in bench- pressing or squatting huge weights as a regular part of conditioning for MA but thats just me. I tend to subscribe to the philosophy cited in the earlier post. Knuckle-push-ups and sit-ups and the rest have their place and the emphasis needs to be moderation and form and not just repetitions. It was posted by Sung Book Bae, the director of the KHF......" Hackworth posted an ad on E-BUDO Net for a seminar coming up in Alabama sometime soon and stated that sword would be taught. I took an opportunity to question the source of this sword material and was tolkd that the KHF under Oh See Lim had determined that this sword work would be incorporated into the KHF curriculum. I have also watched tape #4 of the Korea Hapkido Federation curriculum and saw sword work right towards the end but no information was given regarding where it was derived from. Can you give any insight to this? About a year ago I got a letter from somebody over in Germany talking about wanting to join "my" organization. It doesn't matter that I don't "have" an organization (though I belong to a couple), what followed was a thank you note stating that I had answered his questions to his satisfaction. Problem is that I never had written him back! OK, so now I figure that there is some kind of communication stuff going on behind the scenes that I am not privey to. And since the letter indicated my involvement with the KHF (BTW: I have nothing to do with the KHF) I figure the communication problem involves them. Since that time there have been various exchanges about Hapkido in the UK and Germany and France and the chubby wannabee in Florida keeps throwing around Korean names and associations like so much alphabet soup. Perhaps its just me but I could really use some clarification about what exactly is going on. Its not like I am this staunch KHF member. Its just that in the KMA family when someone sneezes everybody needs to check for colds, yes? I tried using the Hapkido Net where Hackworth shows up a lot but unfortunately Annibel is a business partner of Hackworths' in this KIHAP thing so its not like he has been particularly unbiased in his management as a moderator. If I promise not to hold you to your report as though it were gospel would you be willing to explain something about what is going on--- before I overload on Korean surnames? :-) Best Wishes, Bruce --__--__-- Message: 6 From: Ray Terry To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Date: Mon, 14 Jul 2003 07:08:53 -0700 (PDT) Subject: [The_Dojang] Re:_Sword_Work Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net > into the KHF curriculum. Can you give any > insight to this? Is this the 4-tape series by KIM Nam-jae and is sold by the KHF? If so the sword portion 'stars' my friend Holcombe Thomas, KHF 7th Dan. He has also studied kendo. As I recall from talking to him, what you are seeing there is kendo. Danny Dunn <<<<<<<< I find nothing that advocates the red-faced, quivering, total body contraction that might cause one to accidentally soil themselves. The blood is definitely not driven to the head and face and there is no raucous exhale to wake the neighbors. >>>>>>>>>>> --__--__-- Message: 9 From: "John Johnson" To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] Re: KHF Information II Date: Mon, 14 Jul 2003 17:10:10 +0000 Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Dear Bruce, I wish I could help you with your problem, but I am confused what you are asking me about. If I understood your posting correctly, I am assuming (and we know what that means!) you're inquiring about the status of the national KHF representatives and Mr. Hackworth's involvement with them. The answer to that question is found in Master Bae's message Master Bae on the KHF Web site. The only other thing I can tell you is that the KHF is undergoing a major organizational restructuring. As Master Bae mentioned in his posting, this includes the announcement of a federation with a global-wide focus in December. This is something I think will resolve several problems while facilitating the spread of the KHF. Because of my low rank (I’m only a 3rd dan, after all), I do not have all the answers. Just so you and everyone else who reads this forum knows, I discovered the announcements yesterday on the KHF Web site and decided to post them here to answer a lot of questions people have asked me regarding the status of the KHF. Once again, I urge everyone who has questions regarding the KHF to contact Master Bae Sung-book at 82-2-3437-3530 or via his email address yesb279@hotmail.com. Since I am vacationing outside Korea right now, you have the same ability to contact him as I do. I hope I answered your questions. If not, please contact me and I will attempt to do a better job at it. Sincerely, John A.
