We have grown to the point where there are many fine non-Korean senior Korean Martial Arts masters like GMs Timmerman, West, DeAlba, Garrison, and others. We should lend our support to the aforementioned individuals because charity begins at home. It's interesting that we still have to look to Korea based organizations to feel a sense of legitimacy.... I would also like to caution everyone about being too judgemental. Remember, when you point one finger at someone, there is three pointing back at you. Ian A. The Special Operations Mission Planning Field Guide, by Dennis Krebs and the American Society for Law Enforcement Training (ASLET),a handy pocket-sized reference,is divided into two sections: Law Enforcement and Tactical Emergency Medical Support. The Law Enforcement section is designed to assist officers during the mission planning stage, and to serve as a referencethroughout the operation. The Tactical Emergency Medical Support section is designed to assist team members during any medical emergencies that may arise. The Special Operations Mission Planning Field Guidewas created specifically for SWAT teams and other law enforcement personnel conducting high-risk warrant service. This great resource allows officers to plan for a variety of missions, as well as serving as a fast point of reference to guide them while out in the field. If you would like additional information on the Special Operations Mission Planning Field Guide, or to place an order to receive 20% off (when you order 5 copies or more). 1-800-832-0034. --__--__-- Message: 6 Date: Tue, 22 Jul 2003 22:07:45 -0400 To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net From: John Maihos Subject: [The_Dojang] Re: schools (near Dorchester MASS) Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net There are some resources on the Boston site for About.com. That works for me! :-) It is enough to know that one can have a single source of communication whereby people on this side of the pond can keep abreast of what is going on in the Old Country and vice versa. Its not that I have any particular investment, but it is always good to have the straight skinny on things whether its TKD, TSD, HKD or what-have-you. You can't imagine how crazy it was having two KHF websites, and then there was the series of links to KMAIA, NHF, KIHAP and the rest of the alphabet soup. In fact, if you would rather stay out of the middle altogether perhaps you could just provide the name of a person whom you believe would give material or concerns a fair consideration. FWIW. I didn't know Adidas made karate gi's, I thought they only made the Tae Kwon Do dobak. Also, are the lapels longer, or are they the standard length? Alot of companies refer to this as tournament cut and traditional cut. One of these days I am going to get fed up and contact a uniform manufacturer and get my own line of uniforms. What, like a 30,000 buck investment eh? Just spare change I suppose (NOT!) Interestingly enough, I got this uniform in the other day called "Neeron" and it looks like good stuff, maybe a grade down from the Kamikaze, but still very nice considering what level I consider Kamikaze to be on. I absolutly hate the way century uniforms look, fit, look after 30 washings, and the way they get so 'limp' or loose after time. I have never gotten more than a year out of a middle wt uniform. I (not bragging) spent about 4000 bucks a year on century products during my first few years teaching, but since finding Kamikaze (and the fact other companies exist) it has gone down to like a fourth of that. They are a great bulk supplier, but if you need good stuff, too bad. I now only use them for sparring gear, because they run that amazing christmas special on the gear for wholesale customers. Alright, enough rambling. Anybody else got suggestions? Charlie Veuleman ************** L. This clearly states moving the left foot and returning to "kibon junbi seogi" or as you spell it "Chimbee" junbi = Chimbee This is taken directly from the Kukkiwon book, so I am not sure why you might be having trouble seeing it. Hope this helps. Back in the sixties and seventies I visited countless Dojangs, Dojos, and Kwoons around the globe, and I have never had a bad experience. In addition to your advise, I would encourage folks to bring a white belt with them when they go visiting. Wearing a white belt immediately makes it perfectly clear that you come to learn. After more than fifty years of practice I still carry my white belt with me, and I will not hesitate a second to put it on if someone is willing to share some stuff with me.
