Your comment about African/Native American methods got my curiosity. Care to provide further info on or off list? Rich, it was absolutley MY pleasure and as I told you several times during you incarceration at Chez West, I know you would do the same for me. Here's to a speedy recovery, and hopes that Dr. Tsao doesn't catch you cheating on your PT, because that woman is dangerous. On another note.....Thanx to all who were kind enough to remember my birthday, because at this point I try to forget them as much as possible......JRW www.hapkido.com --__--__-- Message: 3 From: "Eddie Urbistondo" To: Date: Tue, 5 Aug 2003 09:15:46 -0700 Subject: [The_Dojang] conditioning Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net In closing, if Ditdajow really did prevent arthritis, or even reduce it, I suspect the AMA would be shouting that from the pages of the Journal of the AMA, New England Journal of Medicine, etc. There are a lot of chinese ointments and herbs that the AMA does not know about or care to promote. --__--__-- Message: 4 Date: Tue, 5 Aug 2003 12:47:17 -0400 From: Rudy Timmerman To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Nuts Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Jye writes: > This is also a chi strike....actually purely chi! Hello Jye: I have never tried the coconut, but I have had the opportunity to slap some nuts coming in to the Dojang to disrupt classes now and then:) Back to serious. I would likely not bother with the coconut if given the chance, because it would seem to me there is a likelihood of shards or other sharp edges occurring with such a break. Although I used to do glass fairly often at demos, and we even had it as a requirement for promotion at one time, I have given up breaking bottles for the same reason. Too many folks get seriously hurt for no real good reason. Nothing personal here, but lets get real. If anyone really believes that DDJ will prevent or cure serious medical problems then execute a well designed double-blind study, publish the results -and- get the patent. You'd get rich real fast... Depending on the recipe used to make your DDJ (see the list archives for a few of those recipes), it may help with soreness and bruising. But it is NOT going to prevent the average patient from developing arthritis, nor will it cure their cancer. If you talk about making up styles, jumping "major" rank and acting like a 12-year old schoolgirl when it comes to personal attacks O.K. He doesn't belong anywhere close to those comparisons. He's highly skilled and knowledgeable. You would learn a great deal from him. I'm a little concerned about openly attacking others via this forum. True, I have been guilty of same in the past. But in all (or hopefully most) of those cases it was due to very well researched data and/or personal experience. Yes, I have mentioned many things about that chubby GM wannabe down you know where or even the far less chubby GM wannabe down south with little to no real Hapkido training. But the facts are clear and there is no (none, zip, nada) reasonable dispute. Even some of those posts I have discarded given their perhaps questionable nature. My request... if someone asks for an opinion, feel free to offer your opinion via private email back to the person. It may keep the mud slinging down a bit. Thanks.
