I actually asked the little Korean lady (mom of my highschool buddy) in my hometown how I should hang it, and she said rotate just as you would the USA flag. Doesn't that put the red on the left if you are looking at it? I took her on her word, figuring she was the most knowledgeable person to ask when I started teaching. In regards to why schools hang the flags vertical, I suppose it is because there is only two grommets in the flags, those of course being on the left for pole hanging, not wall hanging. To display the flag landscape, you would need to grommet your flag, or poke holes in it. Not very nice looking to stab nails or tacks through your nice new flags. Before this thread got started, I had actually thought about rehanging my flags, and adding the state of Louisiana flag somewhere in the building, and get a USKA flag made. How would the line up be if they were all four hung on the same wall? YITMA Charlie Veuleman ************** L. I have never seen anyone being rendered unconscious like that demonstrated on the video clip! My gosh, I feel like I've been wasting my time with the stuff I do. Last year in November Master West held a seminar in Fort Wayne, Indiana which I was not able to attend due to a severly stiff neck. I need to make sure I get my reserved spot at Mr. New's dojang for Master Wests' seminar. Its only an hours' drive. I have found a better Tae Kwon Do instructor for my five year old. He is with the USTU, and regularly competes at state events and has even placed for the last two years. The original instructor was planning to leave the state for one reason or another, and I thought it would be best if I found a different instructor before my son had gotten too deep into the ITF hyungs. Another perk with the new instructor is I can afford to participate in the Tae Kwon Do class too. Maybe I'll eventually earn my black belt. The new instructor is Dave McCurtain, he is a 4th dan. I wish we had some more diversity in Korean martial arts around my area, Hapkido, Kuk Sool Won, and Hwarang Do. I would really like to learn an art like that because the depth and beadth of skills and knowledge is so great. Well its bedtime, I hope everyone is well. "This study compares the treatment of two groups of patients with fractured ribs. One group, labeled the treatment group, received Chinese medicinals. The other group did not. This group was called the comparison group. The group receiving Chinese medicinals was administered two separate formulas, one during the early stage of injury characterized by pain and soreness and another during the late or healing stage." I do not see where the very real placebo effect was accounted for in this study. ??? This is where the need for real, well designed, unbiased medical study is needed. The article is too long w/graphics, etc, to scan in, but this snippet is of possible interest. "The direct effects of this threat stimuli are affirmed in a study conducted by Dr. Alexis Artwohl (author of Deadly Force Encounters) between the years of 1994-1999. She interviewed 157 police officers who were involved in deadly force shootings. Her study revealed the following results to "Perception" issues: 84% experienced diminished sound (auditory exclusion) 79% experienced tunnel vision (peripheral narrowing) 74% experienced "automatic pilot" with little or no conscious thought 71% experienced visual clarity 62% experienced slow motion time 52% experienced memory loss for part of the event 46% experienced memory loss for some of their own behavior 39% experienced dissociation; sense of detachment or unreality 26% experienced intrusive distracting thoughts 21% experienced saw, heard or experienced memory distortion 17% experienced fast motion time 07% experienced temporary paralysis" Ray Terry rterry@idiom.com --__--__-- Message: 5 From: "Travis" To: Date: Sun, 10 Aug 2003 20:43:27 -0400 Subject: [The_Dojang] Useful website - Sports Injury Bulletin Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Here's a useful website that some may find useful: http://www.sportsinjurybulletin.com/ --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues available @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com Copyright 1994-2003: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
