Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Hi all, I have just moved from Spain to Denver, Co. We are very happy to be here, unfortunately I had to leave the Barcelona Dojang behind. Could anybody kindly hint me to a place in Denver where I can continue my Kung Jung Musool or Kuk Sul Woo studies? Thanks ever so much. It may take a few weeks or months. Follow what your dr. says. I have been having knee and back problems for he last ten years. But have been training in tkd for five years. Iam now a third gup holder occausally I must not train as hard as the rest of the class. But over time my knees and back have gotten stronger through regular exercise and martial arts training. If you want to stick with your training talk to you dr. and instructor. Hope all goes well. A few years ago, I suddenly heard a fairly loud whistling in my left ear. I thought it was my computer at first, but I soon found that the noise I heard was Tinnitus. After consulting with a hearing specialist, I was told there was nothing that could be done... it was the result of too many pain killers for too many years. Now I am stuck with going nuts with the constant noise in my ears. Can't win no how:) I just wished there had been a notice about that side effect on the pain killer container, at least I could have made a choice. Thanks for the advice - I figured just a regular sharpening stone directly on the edge is the best way to go. Its for the Sword drawing component of my Second degree Hapkido test, however, it is only a very small component of the testing requirements. As far as re-sharpening, I never intend to do this, as A) It is an el-cheapo anyway, and B) Due to the litigious nature of the society I live in (Australia), anything that can be done to reduce my potential liability, & increase the safety of myself, & those around me is in my view, a worthwhile exercise. Besides, in all seriousness, I have no intention of severing any limbs from anyone. Safety should be forefront, & I simply dont need an edge on a practice blade. I have met and observed the performance of many physically and mentally impaired Martial Artists...the disabilities has not stopped them from learning the martial arts and performing to their maximum capabilities...including blind martial artists... If the instructor is willing and motivated...disabilities are overcome...no worries... GM Woo Jin Jung of Cedar Rapids Iowa and GM Joon Y. Kim of Wichita, Kansas have both instructed mentally and physically impaired students whom have become black belts to the best of their capabilities... One of the projects I have that is on the back burner is to possibly host some HKD trips to Korea that will be different from the ones you see advertized in the mags. My thoughts are to offer something other than go to all the big name places for photo ops, and get to experience some of the smaller unique things of the country. We'll see.... Not sure if people are interested in that kind of event or not.... The Wavemaster works OK for most students up to intermediate level, but it tends to get kicked over a lot by senior gup men and male dans. Some of the times are due to a tendancy to push rather than kick. But I have found that I consistantly kick it over with middle or high level thrust kicks, and with high round, hook and wheel kicks. That's the reason I don't particularly like the one I have for my own workouts. I do have a great bag stand that I designed that I use at home. It is heavy. But it is moveable and adjustable. I think I have some plans around somewhere if you are interested. Sad to see that yet a couple more folks have been taken by chubby GM wannabe from down Florida way... :( I hope they are able to get their money returned.
