Right now I would be happy if ANYONE I have written would respond! I'm sorry, Ray. I understand what you said in your post before about a scenerio where an English-speaking secretary comes in once a week to handle such correspondence. However, in my book, one does not represent an organization as a "world-wide organization", or handling the responsibilities of a world- wide organization, and not have sufficient facilities to provide the service. Some time back I was taken to task for being so hard on organizations and leadership. Foreign language and foreign culture not withstanding, there are some pretty basic services that these organizations could be reasonably expected to provide, including the following. 1.) Identification and standing of the membership as attested to by the Board and not by one or two folks doing something on the side. 2.) A unified curriculum representing authentic KMA practice and not disparate systems whip-stitched together by vying groups within the same organization or art. 3.) A standard and regular program of activities convenient to members. 4.) A regular venue for disseminating information, resolving conflicts, and facilitating communication among the membership (including the leaders). 5.) Opportunities for participatory membership including policy-making and goal-setting. Now, as I look over this list I don't think I have identified anything here that one doesn't look for in any organization from the Boy Scouts to the Republican Party. If the Korean culture can't or won't support these basic expectations, where do they get off saying that they will or suggesting that they might? It isn't really an "honor" to be choosen for the cover. It is a commercial transaction. Robert Martin > Even $2500 would have been too much for Gm Ji to pay. I feel they should research the people they put on the cover. I under stand its a business but they should not allow people to claim something they are when there not .Example Tom Merritt a 7th Dan! Who gave it to him? Not a TKD master so how is he a 7th Dan TKD master? There are to many honest TKD instructors that worked hard and many years to achieve there rank.So why allow this to happen ?After all isn't Taekwondo More then just money? --__--__-- Message: 4 From: "Jason E. Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net We had our Tae Kwon Do/Hapkido Open Training Session this weekend and it was a blast. We had very decent turn out given the short notice and the holiday weekend. I'd like to thank Mr. Wicker for volunteering his time to come down and share his Hapkido knowledge with us, so that we could be better prepared to enjoy the Jackson seminar. Additionally, we'd like the thank our fellow DDer's who sent students/representatives to the session, Master Don Kirsch of George Town and Master Clinton Boit of San Antonio. If anyone's interested there are two links on our site with pictures from the event: http://www.natkd.com/pictures.htm This is our normal gallery and has several hand selected pictures that will stay up through our normal rotation of pictures (about 3 months). http://www.natkd.com/events.htm This section has some 130 + pics from the event that will be up for about two weeks so that seminar attendees can pull down pictures they might like. Thanks again to everyone who came out. It was great fun. Regards, Jason E. If you process your Kukkiwon dan certs thru the USTU, they keep half of the directly thru the Kukkiwon, they (the Kukkiwon) keep the entire fee. The Kukkiwon sets the Kukkiwon dan fees, not the USTU." My reaction is the USTU, which represent the World’s Supper Power including largest economy, greatest ally & friend of South Korea, and the country with second largest number of Kukkiwon certification, should have a significant influence in the price that USA citizens pay for the Kukkiwon. If the USTU does not negotiate with the Kukkiwon than the USOC criticism of them is justified on this point. The USTU should lead or get out of the way and let some other organization represent us. I would still like to know why Korean citizens pay only around $24.95 for Kukkiwon 3rd Dan certification , whereas, US citizens pay around $120.00. Is this "fleecing of America" ? I'll be getting ready for Jackson in ten days AND getting ready for the Third annual Moja Kwan Moo Do Camp (Seminar). I am told my paypal function is not working from my website so if I haven't sent you a paper flier, please email me, or I'll try to remember to pack some for the trip to Jackson. After that things "calm down a little" as we start our AAU competition season, do another Project Action fundraiser, and a demo for our local town (both in October). Update on the guest instructors at the third annual Moja Kwan this year. GM Hodder will not be with us this year. As many of you on list already know, we will be wishing him a speedy recovery after knee surgery in August. Master Dennis McHenry WILL however represent USKMAF as our head master for us Tang Soo Do folks, so look for a good emphasis on Tang Soo Do and a little sword work from both of us :-) This year we will have a special session for youth ages 5-11 on Friday 9/26 and the adult all day session on 9/27 (two weeks after Jackson). IF you've got some frequent flyer miles to burn after Jackson, we're just 45 minutes northwest of Atlanta-Hartsfield airport up I75 to I575. Finally I have been reading the posts on USTU versus KKW certs and here's my take. I'm too old for the Olympics and have loads of fun at the AAU nationals so I don't need a KKW cert. All of my current competative atheletes have access to AAU nationals, and Junior Olympics. I guess if any of them REALLY wanted to go all the way for the Olympics they would need a KKW blackbelt. As far as I know you can't get a KKW cert in Tang Soo Do, neh? I am very happy with my USKMAF certification and GM West's and M McHenry's signatures, besides my students, there's really nobody else I care to impress... I would like to know how the average per capita income compares between Korea and the USA. That should be factored in. Also consider the cost of an ITF 3rd dan.
