I doubt this 'news' will be worth hearing, so don't worry about an apology. Think about it... When you catch your grandkids in one lie, isn't there frequently another one in close succession? These cost money, both in purchase and disposal of the wood. Charging more for a higher rank strikes me as a slap in the face as a "reward" for the students' continuing dedication....." I'm with you! Some years ago I tried an alternate approach. The idea was to build-up more response to GM Myungs' seminars which were losing attendence. My idea was to simply figure what it was going to cost to have him come in, add in an "honorarium" and then split the amount among the attendees with a minimum contribution amount. The plan didn't fly--- because folks--- not GM Myung--- didn't feel they would have made enough of a profit off of the event. Now, true enough, if it costs $2000US to fly in a GM, put him up and wine-&- dine him and only 20 folks show up the cost is $100 per person across the board. However if 40 people show, or if 100 people show.... well you can see my point. How did he get those positions? How much money did ROK spend to build KKW? I suspect that Ray has it right -- the Ministry of Sport continues to influence the WTF and KKW. Regards, Robert Martin Dear Robert: ".....The fact is that the KKW is a quasi department of the ROK government(much as the ITF was controlled and parts still are by the North)....." WHO oversees this. WHO in the government performs this service. This is about the fourth time I have heard that some MA group bears the imprimateur of the Republic of Korea government. Will somebody please tell me WHO does this. Personally, I don't think there is such an authority. I think its one of those urban mythes that maybe had some validity at one time but no longer has an official connection. Afterall, the World Kido Federation advertised this in their magazine notices. What difference did it make? Comments? I wonder, given that it seems that hackworth caused you some major grief a while back ( I dunno the story, I'm kind of reading between the lines, but my take is that somehow he got you in hot water with an employer over posts you made to or about him ????), why you would even take the time and effort to appear civil to this loser. But, good luck to you however you choose to handle it. As an aside , I (in a moment of nothing to do) typed in "korean Martial Arts" in google. I pay approximately $1.50 to $2.50 per board in my area for the breaking requirements. And since I require more and more breaking at each level that cost can add up. The last testing I did we went through just over 200 boards with twenty three people testing that means over three hundred dollars in boards alone. This may not be the case for everyone but it could be one of the contributing factors.
