Looks like I will have to wait until the March/spring seminar to get thrown. I am not happy about having to pass it up this year, but I guess it will just be that much more fun early next year. I hope ya'll have a blast. Sniffle sniffle... YITMA Charlie Veuleman ************** L. If You are seeing mail's sent out by the W32/Sobig-F Virus. This virus not only send's itself to addresses it find's on the infected computer, but it also falsificates the sender address using one of the found addresses. So probably somebody who has stored you're address has the infection on his computer, not you. I'm currently seeing many, many such messages and the returns, as my EMailaddress is well know in the net, due to my Taekwon Do Website. It is very interesting how many people open such attachements, and how many of them never find out that their computer is infected. Luckily Sobig-f disables itself after 9.9.2003, but be aware, security people believe that the next version of sobig will come after that date. Mark Shuey has several good videos over at www.canemasters.com. Another good resource is Marc Tedeschi's tome on Hapkido (available at most major bookstores and on-line). Lastly, I know Pelligrini isn't everbody's favorite person, but he does have two videos that demonstrate a lot of cane techniques. The one that says I shall not serve a second Master may I be crucified 100 times... The only one I was able to find was "Song of the red-blooded heart" which reads: My body may die, again and again one hundred times again, may turn into but a pile of bones and dust, my soul may or may not live on, but my loyalty to my country shall remain unchanged forever... Any help will be appreciated. Manuel K. Maldonado http://devoted.to/Taekwondo _________________________________________________________________ Get 10MB of e-mail storage! Everybody on this list with a belly-button is going to know what I am about to write even before I do it but all the same here it is. Get a copy of the COMPREHENSIVE MANUAL OF KOREAN MARIAL ARTS which can be found at many different Borders and Barnes and Nobles Bookstores as well as AMAZON.COM. There are also video tapes of reconstructions of the various forms in the book available through Turtle Press who advertise regularly in the TKDT. The "feel" that you are seeking will be found less in the actual execution of the techniques than in the selection of material that the original compiler of the work thought was important back in 1795. There is a certain pragmatism that one finds in the sword material, for instance, but the Bup derived from the Chinese traditions seems to me to have a bit more focus on technique than the Japanese material ("Wae guem") which seems to rely more on aggressive execution. I don't think you will find a particular method of execution which one would identify readily as "Korean" though there are some ways of handling a weapon in Korea which may differ sometimes from the way a neighboring country might perform a comparable move. Who can say if the Koreans thought it up themselves or it simply turned out that way as the various methods banged into each other within the Korean culture? For my money the "Korean flavor" is in why one method or weapon was selected for inclusion and not others. FWIW.
