It does not matter who is judging you. You are just paying for a piece of paper that is of some commercial/personal/emotional value to you....." Actually I think that each of us, in our own way, is making the same point. I don't have a problem taking a drivers' exam as it is standardized and will be the same no matter which drivers' facility I go to in Illinois. But how about if I go to Indiana------ and the testing person is from Ohio and using his criteria? Now we have problems. No standardization. When I go for my test next year I will be testing in front of an individual with whom I have quite a history which something I can't say if I am testing in front of a person who has dropped into my little burg from the home office in Korea and doesn't know me from anyone. Or how about if the guy doing the testing is using some quasi-kendo swordwork and my swordwork is more authentic than his material? Do I lower my standards or change my material just so what I am doing is more familiar to him? I agree that in the end the fancy paper is a function of whatever a person wants it to mean in their life. However, I am asking about what it is that the KHF is doing to make the experience more authentic, more credible, more valid for the fee its taking? That was my point. Thanks for the thoughts. You need to be more regionally inclusive and celebrate its diversity....." I celebrate southern diversity in all of its many forms including sweet tea, peanut butter for breakfast, and a culture where a "grudge" is a place to park your car rather than an on-going animosity.:-) However, my comment was targeted at a recent event in the great state of Alabama hosted by the Florida cult which was explained to include swordwork reportedly sanctioned by the KHF and apparently of their own device. How very novel. It is a clear indication that mutual respect and cooperation can truly be of benefit to fellow martial artists. JR and I are in the same business; however, we do not allow this competition to cloud over our true interest... the love of martial arts. I look forward to seeing you at JRs Jackson event in March.
