All three are trainees of the city-based >Horangee Taekwondo Academy. Do I understand this right? A 3 1/2 year old a Black Belt? Common you got to be kidding me, right? A child's attention span is not long enough for that. I heard of people "giving away" Black Belts but this is gone too far... He/She must of started training 4 years 3 months ago.. Man for the love of God you can't be serious. I think that we have all created the current environment in which, rather than maintain a relationship with our teacher throughout our martial arts experience, we invariably have a falling out with our teachers "once we get religion" and go shopping for an organization to support our lack of committment. I know that this was a hughe run on.... The heads of these organizations will gladly accept your money without much requirement or expectation and without performing due diligence as to why you no longer have a relationhip with your teachers.... After all, this is America, the good ole U.S. of A. The place where competitionin in the free market place is the rule rather than the exception. So, organizations like the KHF understands ths and is just trying to get a fair share of the market value. Gone are the days when the "tradition" of martial arts and stuff like lineage meant something. As in the case of my organization (ICF), it has remained very small because I do not accept new members, especially if there are 1st -3rd dans, unless I am clear as to why the relationship with their last teacher failed. In many instances, I ask the prospective new member to secure a letter of recommendation from their last teacher before accepting them. I can go on ad infinitum with this, but you guys got my drift.
