I am a second "POOM" in WTF taekwondo. that means that I am a second degree black belt under the age of 16. when I reach 16 I have to take another black belt test to get my second Dan. Free of charge. So I end up paying only once for each of my black belt tests. once for first poom. once for second poom. This is the best way to handle this problem in my opinion. Nobody is getting cheated out of money, and it insures all is fair. Because a second poom test is NOT as hard as a Second Dan test. Some clubs do charge for the extra test, some even have more tests, but this is an excellent and fair way to ensure all black belts eventually have to go through the same standard test. Hello Klaas: It has been my experience that most students cannot absorb an entire Hap Ki Do curriculum in one year, regardless of how much they train during that year. IMHO, such a training schedule to learn an art is not enough, and training time should be enhanced by additional practice time to fully absorb the material taught.
