Rather, the announcements were made at an official dinner on Saturday evening (October 25th) in the presence of all who attended. During that dinner, Oh, Se Lim acknowledged Richard Hackworth as the KHF's official representative in the US, Dr. Antonio Latier, as the KHF representative for Argentina, Gabriel Zarate as the KHF for Equador, and Fabien Duque as the Latin American Coordinator. A representative for Canada is expected to be announced by first part of December......." This material was important enough to be published in TKDT or BLACK BELT magazines, in black and white for everyone to hear from an objective third party. This material was important enough to be announced in an open forum such as the 50 or so folks that attended on the first day rather than some arcane discussion of "Ki". As I predicted, we now get information published through a venue provided by an admitted adherent to the folks from Florida rather than directly from Oh See Lim. Why should we believe any of this is anything but information spun by the folks in Florida, and allowed to be spun by Oh See Lim himself for fear of alienating that particular contingent? Oh See Lim could have cut this short in a minute by simply making a short public statement and having that statement published in a recognized magazine resource-- perhaps JAMA? I find it hard to believe that these folks are so selectively ignorant when it comes to putting these matters to rest. There are a couple of simple techniques that will improve your jumping skills... First...simply jump rope...try to jump high enough to complete 3 full rotations of the rope before you land...then work on 4...this utilizes your muscles from your hips to your toes...it will also help improve your balance and coordination... Second...do what is sometimes referred to as Frog Hopping...squat as low as you can...hands behind your back...keep your back straight...start out at short low leaps then increase the length and height eventually leaping as high and as far as you can... Third...set a reasonably wide obstacle on the floor...stand with your heels next to it and your back facing it...jump over it while rotating 180 degrees...so you are on the opposite side in the same starting position as before the jump... These are just some simple methods of improving your jumping capability...they may not give you the maximum results you desire...but you will improve and you will work your muscle groups as well as your flexibility, balance, and coordination at the same time...multiple benefits...you may consider using ankle weights as well will these methods...though that could put undue stress on your joints... Just some ideas for you... Pil Seung! The students were being charged from $250.00 to $600.00 for their black belt promotion tests with $50.00 bi-monthly tests and 2 mandatory $100.00 semi-annually tests for retaining rank. In the end, a parent who transferred to this school caught and confronted him, only to be told more worthless lies, harassed and kicked out of his school. Ultimately, the master did admit these were not real KKWs; however, the admission was finalized by his statement, "Parents are to dumb to know the difference anyhow, so what difference does that make? I actually only get KKWs for the students who have a chance to get a gold medal at Nationals." Who made him God and gave him a crystal ball? This is a large school and there are numerous 1st, 2nd and 3rd Dans and Pooms who have a worthless school certificate (and no Kukkiwon replacement) from a man who fraudulently misrepresented these certificates and much, much more. He had over 100 black belts testing throughout the year. You do the math. He could afford to be honest with that much money!!! Of course, the authenticity of how he acquired his 5th Dan rank has been challenged and disputed by 2 local Grandmasters and former state president. So, beware to all potential martial artists because you do not always get what you pay for. The high price does not mean it's real or authentic!!! By the way, the same master was found guilty of assault and battery on minor age students this month. Amazingly, he has been charged with this, as well as spousal abuse, at least 9 times in the past 6 years. This is like having a drunk driver in a school. How many kids does he have to physically and emotionally hurt before someone puts a REAL stop to his actions??? The physical pain from an assault can go away; however, some of these kids are very emotionally damaged and have required ongoing counseling and academic assistance. What else can be done if the courts repeatedly give him a slap on the wrist or the students are afraid of standing up to him because of his efforts to have you black-balled out of the local, State and National Championships? We have him on video tape as he has openly sabotaged State Championship competitions and stopped a match to try to jump over a judges table and threatened to assault a parent and coach for reporting him to the State head referee, who happened to be his best friend and agreed he was "dirty" but was tolerated due to a shortage of referees. Any suggestions for getting past this monster who enjoys being a fraudulent, cheating and child abusing monster ??????? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? If anyone would care to give me their definition of honor, I would be greatly interested......" For my part, I don't know that "Honor" can be defined as a single thing but rather a constellation of motives and behaviors that produce an ultimate good. If it helps, I believe that the significant portion of a persons' Honor depends on that persons' desire and ability to consistently announce their values to the community and then demonstrate behavior that supports those values. I often come back to the training that folks in the military get. It is not enough for a person to learn to dress and fight like a military person, but they must be educated to the military code of conduct and then adopt that code as a code of behavior. To my mind the degree to which a persons' behavior reflects the code they espouse is the best barometer of that persons' Honor. FWIW. The good thing is, you don't have to dig that deep at first. Tie bamboo sticks around your legs, thus making is impossible bending your knees. The thought is, that your anckles will get stronger. You can start with a hole less deep. Haven't tried it myself though. -- kind regards, Klaas Barends http://www.hapkido.nl/ --__--__-- Message: 7 Date: Wed, 29 Oct 2003 07:21:37 -0600 From: David Weller To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Palgwe (and Taeguek) meanings Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net On Tuesday, October 28, 2003, at 06:24 PM, Boit Clinton L Capt 67 IOW/MO wrote: > From: Boit Clinton L Capt 67 IOW/MO > I transitioned to the Taegeuk forms about 6 years ago, and I've been > running > myself through the Palgae forms lately. I have information about them and a link to his order form from my web site. The only one I have right now is where he put together some information that was material for a seminar he conducted receintly (it's not of the seminar itself). It has several forms on it (in text document with photos and video) which included E-sip-sa Bo Hyung and a Kungek-do Shadow Form. I'll post a review of it later. You can find the info at: http://McHenry.homeip.net/TangSooDo/TSDStore I'm just providing a page to let others know about it who may be interested. ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! I realized I no longer remember > what each one signifies! Do you? Or do you have a link to point me to? The term Palgwe is translated as 'Eight Powers of the Universe'. These eight Palgwe poomsae are based on these conceptual powers. Palgwe Il Jang - Concept of Heaven (Keon) It is symbolic of the beginnings of life and it is the basic principal of this introductory poomsae. Ee Jang - Concept of joyfulness (Tae) It's movements are applied when the practitioner is in a gentle, yet strong state of mind. Sam Jang - Concept of fire (Ri) It is symbolic of one's passion, flickering and flaring at different intervals, and engulfing everything in it's path. From this poomsae the practitioner learns to develop a multitude of quick, successive techniques. Sa Jang - Concept of thunder (Jin) Thunder evokes fear in many people and this poomsae uses this principal to teach the practitioner to be calm, even in the face of impending danger. This form also combines strikes and blocks in such a manner that they instantly follow each other, similar to the relationship of thunder and lightning. Oh Jang - Concept of wind (Seon) Wind is an element of nature which can be gentle or destructive. This form teaches the student to combine and alternate gentleness with strength and speed. Yuk Jang - Concept of water (Gam) Water is an element that never looses it's composure. This leads to it's inherent strength. The poomsae teaches the student that they can overcome any problems in life without sacrificing their state of being. Chil Jang - Concept of mountains (San) Mountains are stable bodies, high and majestic in character, but with definite stopping places. This poomsae is symbolic of a conservative approach to one's life ambitions and promote the practice of not living in a hasty manner. Pal Jang - Concept of earth (Gon) This poomsae is designed to summarize the seven previous poomsae, as well as to introduce several new techniques. At this stage the practitioner reviews all previous material before making the transition to the black belt level. Carver Now I find this interesting, purely because the people who attended didn't say anything about this whatsoever. Considering that this dinner was in front of "all who attended" ---those who attended, do you remember this part? What annnouncements were made? And who were the "fakes and frauds" that were mentioned? I guess I'm just finding it odd that several people from this list were there, but no one said any announcements were made---and now supposedly "everyone" attended the dinner where the announcements were. I've been reading the BudoSeek forum lately, just because I got curious, and I find that while a number of people have gotten strident (and rude) about asking about the KHF, on the other hand, no one from the KHF has actually answered any of the legitimate questions posed. Now, I'm not a member of the KHF, nor am I a member of any association "officially recognized by the Korean government" (as far as I know) but I don't care either, since I'm merely interested in learning hapkido, not being recognized. However, like any other hapkidoist who cares about the art, I'm interestd in learning who fakes and frauds are, so that I can make sure not to deal with them, if they actually ARE fakes and frauds. On the other hand, if I personally know people who are good technicians and teachers, who are defamed by the label of "fake and fraud" by people who merely are looking for political power, I want to know about that too. The nice thing about annoucements such as this is that they tell me quite a bit about both sides----both the side making the announcement and the side being labeled. As such---if indeed the KHF is interested in making the hapkido community a close-knit, professional one, I would think that showing who non-professionals were in that community would be important. Thus, I'm really curious as to the exact announcement, who was appointed where, and who was denounced as a fake and a fraud, and by what measure.
