In the Germantown area, if you are looking for an extreme martial arts program that has a strong emphasis on discipline and old fashioned training ethics, I would recommend Bobby Streitenberger of Germantown Taekwondo. If you are looking for a more family oriented school, I recommend Perry Whybrew of Cornerstone Taekwondo. Bobby Streitenberger, Germantown Taekwondo, 901-757-0785 Perry Whybrew, Cornerstone Taekwondo, 901-830-4278, tkddad@viafamily.com Hope this is of some assistance to you. If not, let me know as I have several contacts in Memphis. The kid is probably about 10-11 years old. I think that he's 4th gup under the Malaysian Taekwondo Association's reckoning, so he's at taegeuk 5 now. So, I would appreciate if somebody could forward the contact number for the WTF NGB in New Zealand or for any instructors in Johnsonville or Wellington. Thank you. Hopefully it'll turn into an annual thing if it works out. I want to do a fundraiser for charity. I know that many martial arts schools do this, but I don't think it has been done in Malaysia - as far as I know, anyway. I've heard of kick-a-thons and breaking boards etc... but what I really need are details. What are the different activities we could do, and how exactly is the money raised? I look forward to your comments. Thanks in advance. Not from a native one (nor English nor Korean), but I take my guess at it anyway :-) 'Way of the prayer' would in that case be kidodo Kido as in World Kido Federation has a chinese origin. It's the way Koreans pronounce the Chinese characters for Chi and Dao(?). Kidohada is Korean voor praying. If this also comes from Chinese character (which I doubt) it will probably be different ones then the ones used for Chi and Dao. Aren't there words in the English language with more than one meaning? Flower for instance? It are those colory things you often see in gardens. But it is also one of the ingredients for making bread. -- mvg. Mook Yum would be meditate. As for the "way of prayer", perhaps you should look into the Shinse system (Shinse in Korean - debt of gratitude, in Japanese - Holy) www.shinseihapkido.com or www.karateforchrist.com. My solution to this problem would be to de-emphasize the belt system. Sooner or later, if the system is skill based, everyone reaches a level where they can't progress and that is fine. It is the training that is important, not the belt. Use an alternative reward system with him. Perhaps you could establish an "Innae Club." Innae means perseverance, and this guy is definitely showing that. Use him as a role model for others, just as you use the guys who can spar everyone else into the ground as rolemodels for skills. You could even give awards for each of the five virtues of t'aekwondo, or however many you are using. The trick here is to support what he IS doing, rather than punish him for what he is not. Today I was reading the post from another list and found two rather long passages that looked like something I had written. After reading the whole thing I could see it was indeed my post. Someone had cut and paste it from the DD archives and used it to answer a question on this other list.....re-reading it I saw that they did attribute the post to me so now we're both famous Ray.
