I advocate for using a raised platform larger than the print of your shoe. Especially when using cinder blocks, it is very easy to come down at an angle, overturning the block and getting some nasty injuries. From experience I can tell you that the Achilles Tendon does not respond well to being cracked across the edge of an overturning cinder block. Of course, for the less adventuresome there is nothing wrong with using large paving blocks (4X4X8in.) laid on their side for starters, at least until you have the gross motor skills down. FWIW. Hello Rudy, I have found some additional information regarding this point. The noted Portuguese voyager, Vasco Pyjama (1460-1524) made several journeys to north America and loaded his ships with the prairie dogs he found there, thinking they would be a source of protein for his crews (Cyrus T. Flabbingnagle 1856. The Journals of Vasco Pyjama pp188- 252). In the absence of black ferrets the prairie dogs bred prolifically. (Note; the prairie dog's main predator was the black ferret which ate one per day. In turn the ferrets were the prey of eagles. The replacement of the bison with beef cattle removed the long prairie grasses and exposed the ferrets to the eagles; by the early 90s the black ferret was almost extinct and prairie dogs were out of control (USA Wildlife Report No. 872 anon. 1992 ; Distribution of Black Ferrets in North America: Ecological Consequences) But I digress) To assuage the boredom of the long sea voyages, Vasco and his crew used the prairie dogs for sport and developed the early forms of TGT. He reached China by 1513 (and later Japan) and introduced the gophers and TGT as it was then. Of course both spread thruought the orient. The Dutch (and others) did anything they could to obtain Portuguese maps, journals and navigational methods, and early voyagers were not doubt aware of TGT the prairie dogs and TGT. However it wasnt until 1610 that significant trade was established and both the prairie dogs and TGT was introduced to Europe. (Some Mongolian marmots were imported much later but the smaller gopher was preferred by the trade.) So Vasco Pyjama was practising TGT almost 100 years before it reached Europe. These historical facts establish Vasco Pyjama as the true Founder of TGT. I'm thinking it was actually a stone certificate, and was in Hangul. It was supposed to be the announcement of recognition of Chon Tong Yudo by ROKYA. Please bear with me, as like I said, I can't remember exactly because it was a couple of years ago. I remember we were all given Yudo patches as gifts as well.
