Please feel free to forward old copies to me so I can stay in the loop...lol. I believe the quote was: "I am the all knowing highest rank in the world. I am "THE Pelligrini effect". I am the original inventor and owner of all Hapkido and all it has evolved into. I am responsible for the success of Hapkido. I have had over 6000 street fights and remain undefeated. The January issue of TKD Times had a quote by Pelligrini in it at the bottom of a Hapkido article. I need that quote for something and I missed it on the newsstand. Can somebody please find that quote and type it out for me. It's about 4-6 lines long if I remember, nothing too bad. Send it on the DD or private e-mail if you like. Thank you very much! It should mean mean something... If so then, Gm's West, Timmerman, Alba, myself and a host of others who run legitimate businesses here in the U.S. are government recognized. Beyond that the real question should be, do you have a meaningful relationship with a teacher/mentor. Much can flow from that relationship and in my opinion transcends any organizational structure. My two cents worth... Ian A. But here goes again. Some are required to have Dan rank in Korea, e.g. police members, military, etc. Government recognized MA orgs are those whose ranks are recognized for this purpose. If it wasn't his money he should have had it deposited in his org's account. That would buy a lot of presents! What did he teach you, economics? It wasn't Tae Kwon Do, cause he doesn't know it, does he? A little humor included here but I never understood why an administrator who is not a martial artist or athlete involved in the sport/art headed that organization. Nice to meet you, no offense intended. --__--__-- Message: 9 From: "Frank Clay" To: Date: Sun, 29 Feb 2004 07:59:13 -0800 Subject: [The_Dojang] Gangster Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Donald, << I differ with you greatly on your assessment and summarization of the WTF/Un Yong Kim "Scandal," and expressed as much in my very first letter to you entitled "'Gangster' a Harsh Moniker for Man Who Has Devoted Life to Tae Kwon Do.">> This statement is inaccurate. Kim did not dedicate his life to Taekwondo and had never trained. Kim was a business man who was put in the position he was to make sure that it was profitable. Whether gangster or not, he has participated in illegal actions to the detriment of Taekwondo, and the government has intervened. What is fair and balanced about this, is the fact that now international athletes may be removed from the thumb of this organization, that seeks to control the sport. I agree with them, in that in 2005 the sports will be re-assessed for continued involvement with the Olympics, and I too wonder if his actions, his self-serving actions, have ended TKD as an Olympic sport. We will see. These expenses might > include everything from international transportation costs to incidental > expenses and per diem to even gift-giving..... IF you believe the head of ANY organization should keep millions of dollars (won) in your home to dole out at their individual whim, I hope you never become a CEO of a business I had money invested. The head of ANY organization should be able to provide an item by item account of ALL money expended. It's not their money but the money of the individuals that have contributed to that organization and they have a right for an accounting of how that money is or was being used. IF it was being used for the personal gain of any one (or more than one) individual they should be held criminally and civilly liable for any losses. > I appeal to all who are as eager as I am for a swift, favorable > outcome in this case to maintain an open-mind, and to have faith in the > good intentions of Dr. Kim, a man whose life has been a model of service, > both to his country and to the world. Having an open mind is one thing, but having a closed mind that he could have never have done such is thing is rather naïve. If you had some personal relationship with Un Young Kim it is always hard to believe that someone you know and trust could be someone other than what you have come to know. But I hate to say it, but that happens all the time. The world is full of crooks that have winning smiles, charming manners, and egos do not understand why they should not have the perks they believe are their due. All you have to do is look at the corporate scandals going around these days to see this is not uncommon. > > Ben Garen > Clarksville, Tennessee > (Former Student of Dr. Un Yong Kim, > Seoul American High School, Class of '85) In what area of study were you a student of Un Yong Kim?
