All they do is stand >around minding their own business. Trees have feelings to, ya know. OH they are horrible creations! The drop all of the clothing in my yard and want me to pick up after them (just like my kids) then they stand around naked!!!!! in full view for months on end before they decide to get their clothing back on! Well Sir, I just can not tolerate that kind of behavior and must administer some form of corporal punishment! While I love nature you would not see me hugging some tree with no clothing on!! There is such a thing as tough love! It should be used much like the various ranks of officers in the military. To my thinking it indicates a position of a person within an organization relative to others with in that organization. When my own instructor tested for ITF 7th Dan a few years back we thought it was going to be hard to referee to him as "Master Maestas". It hasn't been. Nor is it difficult for him to refer to himself as "Master Maestas". It really isn't much different than it would be to refer to "Captain Maestas" in the military. I also don't refer to him as my "master"; he is my instructor, not my master. (Interestingly enough, I have no trouble referring to Chuck Sereff as my "Grand Master" -- why is that?) Years ago, I received his HKD videos for a Christmas present. Glad I didn't buy them myself. Poor technique plus for an actor he has poor stage presence...looks down at the floor a lot. Just rubbed me the wrong way. Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Who has info about up-coming Hapkido seminars with Gm Ji? I believe I heard that Mike McCarty was hosting one. Was Ian Cyrus also hosting one in April? Is the Sin Moo instructor seminar still on up in the NorthWest? Any info w/details would be appreciated? Thanks. Jason -----Original Message----- From: Robert Martin [mailto:kickerfour1999@yahoo.com] Sent: Friday, March 12, 2004 1:28 PM To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Charles Sereff & General Choi Ray asked how GM Sereff met General Choi. Below is a short explanation from GM Sereff. Robert Martin "All of that is covered in the "Made in the USA." picture mini-bio. However it is not detailed. I met the General thru my 2nd Korean instructor, Baek, Moon Ku. I think it was in 1964. I was very impressed, but had no interest in changing style. Mr. Baek was teaching Tang Soo Do. It wasn`t until later, I found out he had trained with the General in Taekwon Do. At that time, no Korean instructor could leave to teach martial arts without the okay of Gen. Choi. Mr. Baek showed me Taekwon Do and left the choice up to me. Tang Soo used Japanese pattens, in name and technique. The only difference being Tang Soo had much better kicking. After being promoted to 2nd dan and when Mr. Baek left Denver. I changed to Taekwon Do and basically started over. >From that day I became the Generals student, and remained so until he died. I will always be his student." _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list, 1600 members The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net Copyright 1994-2004: Ray Terry and Martial Arts Resource Standard disclaimers apply http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2004: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
